Trying to hook Sager laptop to TV

I am attemtping to hook my Sager 4880 to my television to watch a movie or two.
I have hooked an S-Video to composite video cable from the S-video jack on the laptop to my RF Modulator's RCA video jack.
(Normally, I use a DVD player hooked to the TV via the RF modulator; The TV has an RCA video and audio jack [just one audio jack, mono], but the audio jack is blown, though the video works. However, to get both audio and video, I believe I have to use an RF Modulator. I don't think I could hook the Video out on the DVD player to the Video In on the TV but use the RF modulator for audio, I don't think it would work that way. If it can, by all means, let me know.)

So, the Svideo out on the laptop is hooked to the RCA video jack on the RF modulator and I have an audio cable hooked from the headphone jack on the laptop to the audio inputs on the RF modulator. So I think the cabling is fine.

But when I go to the ATI control panel and follow the directions to enable the TV, It seems I am missing something.
I go into the Display settings, Advanced, Displays tab and there should be a TV entry to enable but there isn't.

Any clues, help?

I had this happen.
From memory you need to plug the TV/VCR in as well.
If you just have the S-Vid cable + modulator but no TV the system seems to know that and does not enable the TV tab in the ATI control panel.
Try plugging in the TV and it should work.

My fault, I should have said that the RF Modulator was plugged into the TV via coax at the time, and the TV was turned on after all cable connections were made. All audio and video connections were made and everything had power.
Now, one interesting thing was that, even with the TV and laptop on, the light on the RF modulator was off. This light indicates the RF modulator is working and passing data. It usually comes on when the DVD player normally hooked to the TV is powered on; that is, when the DVD player is powered on, the RF modulator automatically is on as well, thus the RF modulator has no power switch as such. I wonder if that couldn't be the problem....that since the RF modulator wasn't on when the TV was, the laptop couldn't detect the laptop. Anyone know a way around this?
Or am I wrong in this assumption and is there another thing I am missing.

I don't think that the laptop generates an RF signal for output. It generates composite video and seperate auto outputs.

Well, I hooked the laptop to another TV, this one with audio/video composite RCA jacks like normal. And it worked, audio and video both, looked and sounded great. It must be the RF modulator thing on the older TV. For whatever reason, the laptop won't put out a signal like the the DVD player to kick on the RF modulator. It's a shame.
Thanks to everyone that responded.
