I can not establish an acceptable dial-up connections ( or any connection at all most of the times ) to any ISP with my Sager 4750 notebook built in Smart Link modem.

What happens: It goes through endless iterations of handshaking noice untill it decides enough and starts all over. If a connection somehow get established it is either very flaky or very slow. The fiew times it has connected, the hand shaking noice is diffrent...

Tried so far: Diagnose hardware test came out OK. I have tried several other computers use same phonejack, phoneline, ISP, account, w/ out any problems. Line is clear, no noice. I have tried 2 diffrent ISPs, same result. I have installed the latest drivers, didn't help. I run Windows XP Pro SP2. I have tried every possible setting in the drivers in the controllpanel. Safemode 1, 2, 3. Dissabled all V.92 features, lowered the com3 speed etc. But nothing has helped so far. Strangest thing is a fiew times there has been a good connection, and the handshaking noice has been diffrent. But that was yesterday, now nothing will work. Is there known problems with these internal modems? Are they a part of the MB or is it a miniPCI. All other hardware and aspects of the computer works flawless and there is no hardware conflict in the devicemanager.

What should I do next?

If I can not get these issues resolved I most likely will have to send my Sager 4750 back and look for options wich I really dont want too have to do...
