It has a 12.1 inch screen, 500mhz processor,384 ram, 10 gig hd, has an airport card already installed, cdrw/dvd combo drive. mac os 10.4.1, and Ilife 05. Only drawback is a dead pixel on the bottom right corner of screen, almost not noticeble. So how do you think i made out?
good deal, got a link to the ebay auction?
Only 500mhz??? Well, if you pay half the price, I guess half the speed is justifiable

Right, but the thing is I wanted one that had both dvd/ and airport built in. All the ones I found were just bare models - 500 mhz, cd, 12.1, 128megs, So I figured getting the combo drive, airport extreme, upgraded os, and the upgraded memory made it a solid deal.

See this for example.

He doesn't really make a whole lot sense, I dont think he realizes like top of the line powerbook's only have a 1.5 ghz processor. So lets break this down. BTW I have an awesome desktop, just wanted this for a casual browser and dvd's on the airplane.

Brand New 12.1 Ibook ------- vs my Ebay Ibook

1.2GHz PowerPC G4 ------ 500 mhz PowerPC G3
512K L2 cache @1.2GHz ------ Not sure
12-inch TFT Displays ----- 12.1 Display
1024x768 resolution ----- 1024x768 resolution
256MB DDR266 SDRAM ----- 380 megs of ram
30GB Ultra ATA drive ----- 10 gig hd
Combo Drive ----- Combo Drive
ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 ----- Not sure
32MB DDR video memory ----- Not sure
AirPort Extreme built-in ----- Airport Extreme built-in

Price $999 Price $415

I really don't see a $600 difference.. but maybe that's just me.

Hey dipshit don't be so quick to judge other people as 'idiots' especially when coming here and barfing up this crap. I don't care what your going to do with that shit you call a laptop. When we buy laptops we do so for performance and such and not necessary for the use we get out of them nor for the money factor. Only a fool would buy something this old. But hey if your happy with the purchase than good luck to you.

So you buy a laptop strictly for bragging rights and not for the use you get out of it? I mean, I guess I would have done that when I was 13, but unfortunately adults have more responsibility than that. And who is this "we" that you speak of, you are the only one in this thread that is on "your" side. You have made yourself look like a complete idiot, and it is getting funnier and funnier as your post count grows. Please continue to enlighten us on proper spending procedures. In reality, most people are probably going to agree.. Only a fool would buy a laptop without caring what use they would receive from it..

Hmm....

So I take it that you hate Apple, eh? You have your head stuck up Intel and Bill Gates' ass too, right?

If you hate Apple so much, stay out of the Apple section. No one wants to hear your unhelpful, useless banter. Go troll elsewhere.

EDIT:

Wells said. I think the "we" that he speaks of is the army of 13 - 21 year old inside kids that buy computers solely for gaming- which explains the anti-apple sentiment.

Noesis, get the **** out of here. We don't come into the other sections of the site insulting members there, why the hell do you have to come and insult people here?

Where the **** are the mods?

waiting for an email indicating a reported post/thread just caught this thread going sour today, started fine yesterday.

Noesis,
Kakaze has it right. Lighten up on the insults or leave. Go thrash someone who bought a 1.1Ghz ULV PM that could have been a 3.4Ghz P4 notebook in the wintel threads if that's what you feel inclined to do. See if they like it any more than ppl here have. If you haven't figured it out yet, maybe there's no hope, but yes, some ppl actually buy for their needs as opposed to what the bleeding edge of technology could provide for them. Any further trolling will be deleted along w/ a report to the admin gods. Be nice or play elsewhere.

Aarong50,
I can appreciate your feeling attacked after a new purchase that you are excited about, but please try not to respond to childish insults with similar insults. It makes it harder as a mod to weed thru who has the graver insults.

I understand, won't happen again - just frustrating.
