Acer Ferrari 4000 on Acer Website

Thread Starter
Hey, Acer has finally publicly released information on the Ferrari 4000, check it out. No official release date was in the article, however they redirect questions to the regional offices of Acer.

(it should be on the main site at Acer.com)

I just called Acer they said it will ship on the 30th of this month , but they don't know the price yet, won't get a new price list until the first of june

All I want to know is why no company is taking the extra tiny step and putting an X800 in one of these things. Acer would have pretty much any amount of money from me if they would pair an athlon 64 and an x800 or better

Does a system like this exist yet?

I think the Turion owns the 4000 is goiong to be great
post #5 of 25
I dunno though, the only thing I see better with this is the proc itself have the 64bit and better battery life.

I mean it will be cheaper, so they say, but if you get a pentium m it doesnt seem like you are missing out on anything cept the 64 bit :/

for me its like hey what do i get?

P-M: good battery life, good performance

Turion: Good battery life, good performance, 64-Bit

If I can get 64-bit and not really sacrafice, might as well take it
plus the carbon fiber looks SWEET

im sure there are some differences between turion and P-M but ill prob never know the difference

Whats wrong with the X700?
Acer isn't advertising the Ferraris as gaming notebooks anyway. They're trying to keep them light weight with good battery life, so the X700 is good enough.
That's pretty exciting. I think the Turion paired up with a powerful GPU such as the X700 is a great thing - it gives consumers more choices. Not to mention, it looks sleek.

I have never used AMD products, but if it just as good or better than the Pentium M, that would be great. I don't have any use for the 64 bit architecture as of right now, but I am sure that there will be a tiny fraction that will actually benefit from this.

It's between the Acer Ferrari 4k, the refreshed Asus W1, or the Sager 3880...
Fun!

What is an XRS Gen 2, SirBA?

And to reiterate Michael, how is the x700 crap? I could easily call your 6800 "Overkill" because I have a desktop system that eats it up and a laptop that is much smaller and still runs perfectly smooth on nearly every game out there. :-/

Where did I say the X700 is crap??? I said Whats wrong with the X700? in reply to SirBa's hmm crap. I think the X700 is great, it can run games great and uses less power than its competitor the 6600go

...I said to reiterate what you had asked, how is the x700 crap. I was asking him exactly what you had asked (but using my syntax)....
