| And as far as processor speeds go, I wouldn't go for the top of the line one. Usually you pay a huge premium for a much smaller increase in performance. Unless that little bit extra is really that important, you get more bang for your buck with a lower end chip. In the end, they'll all become obsolete together anyways (or, just upgrade sooner with the money you save now). |

(hmm, it's about 10% of my laptop's price, if you include the 3-yr CompleteCare warranty).|

The problem is not that i am buying a brand new Dell laptop, the best laptop in the world, the problem is that I don't know which one to buy. I am a gamer, but the lappy that i buy doesn't need to be a gaming machine. i want to stay between 900 - 1200$. I can get a bigger machine like the 9300 and downgrade it slightly - i.e. 1.6 instead of 2.0, smaller video and memory, OR I can go with a smaller machine like the 6000 or the 700m with a few more upgrades. Which is the better move? i want to be portable, I want power, i want something that i will be able to surf with without waiting for long downloads of web pages. Gaming would be nice - BUT pwer for the internet, email, downloads, cd burning is the main issue. What are your opinios - I NEED HELP HERE!!!!! ![]() |

The 6000 is portable, yet it can play games if it has to. It's not the best for games, but it will do, as long as you get a good video card. The 600m can also handle games, or so I've heard, but it's highest video card isn't as good as the 6000's.

So it really depends on if you care more about having a lighter notebook with ok video card or a bit heavier one with a better video card.
