Screen Flicker

After just getting my new machine today, I have to say its awsome, even the screen....except that whenever I put a cd in or eject one, the screen flickers on and off. Has anyone had this problem or found a way around it? I really dont want to RMA this after 1 day. It looks like when you adjust the resolution and flickers, about 5 or 6 seconds.

Could be a loose connector Nandro. Pushing the CD in might just cause the power connection to play up. The battery pack butts up against the CD player - check with Adam at PC Torque first - he might be able to help.

Also check the little white button near the top right of the keyboard (next to the depression for the finger print scanner - yeah right). It handles the LCD backlight.

I hope its fixable aussi, I'm burning a DVD right now. I can see the little white button and that does turn the display off, but their dosent seem to be an issue with it. Will try the cd when its done. I really dont want to send it back. My wife will have to pry it from my hands and leave me crying in the driveway.

Hmmmm, now this is real weird. I get that same flicker when I turn off my EXTIGY usb sound. Now I'm real confused.

U know, it almost sounds like it is a power issue. Does it do this when on just battery, just AC, or both?

Can't flame you for that thought Divine - we agree in principle at least .

Nandro have you done a battery cycle?
Is the screen flicker like:
1. a poor flourescent light type of flicker
2. or is it more like power going off then coming back on
3. or is it more like a BSOD change colour type of flicker?

Also is your extigy USB powered or externally powered?

The EXTIGY is externally powered. Its more like the type of flicker when you change resolutions on W2K. Battery or AC power both.

Hey.. i thought we got along well Aussie! At least when we disagree, we can back up our arguments..

Anyway, i would still lean towards a power issue. The Extigy may not be activly drawing power, but it can still interrupt it...

But why would it have an issue when I change a cd or dvd even when the EXTIGY is not plugged into it? I'm confused. Hopefully tech support has an anser in a couple hours

I still think power cable issue. As I said the DVD/CD butts up against the battery.

Good luck man finding a solution. Let us know how you get on.

Hooray!
wOOt
Dancing bananas

Here's to a stuffed BIOS and a good call from Sager .

Glad to see it was just a BIOS issue. We can't have our 8890's with reliability issues now can we.

Remember to cancel your appointment with the shrink .

Still need the appointment... I think I am mildly traumatized from the thought of it. But it was a good call
