D9R04.wph (new bios for 9860) HOW TO INSTALL??

I just downloaded the latest bios from the Sager 9860 support site http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/tech_sfwrdls.html

version 1.00.04

executing the downloaded file resulted in a file named d9r04.wph

How does one execute this file to flash the bios????

you have to download the windows bios flash utility on the same page.

sorry, one more question. The installation program, winphlash, seemed to update, backup and flash my bios ... however when I my computer booted up again after the utility ran, the same bios version number was displayed upon bootup (prior to seeing the windows xp splash screen).

Is there anyway to tell for sure that the bios did get updated?

When I updated my 9860, the BIOS version shows as 1.00.04. Are you sure you picked the correct new BIOS and not the old .03 version? That's all I can think of...

by the way, did you have to use msconfig to boot up as clean as possible first?
No I didn't. No problems installing at all.

Baldman, etal: This is really killing me and I'm extremely frustrated. I've tried everything and am darn tired playing phone tag w/ Sager support (I admit, it's not all their fault, they've been diligent about calling me back).

Let me go through what I've been doing - maybe you can correct me.

1. I downloaded from http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/tech_sfwrdls.html#2 and under NP9860, the following files:
a)Windows BIOS Flash utility dated 15-Apr-05 and
b)System BIOS Version 1.00.04

2. I ran these files

3. The BIOS file resulted in the following file residing on my desktop: D9R04.wph

4. I used the WinPhlash utility to execute this file (NOT the one that is the default within the WinPhlash folder called bios.wph). Let me repeat, I used the D9R04.wph.

5. The program seems to run fine. I see that flashing activity is occuring ...

6. Upon reboot, my boot up screen STILL shows the old bios version 1.00.033

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

1.00.033 - is the Promise Controller not the BIOS version. It flashes by very fast but you can still read it. To be sure go into the BIOS F2 and
Advanced tab | System Information and hit enter.

man do i feel like an idiot ... you're absolutely correct. it did update to the new bios. i'm surprised the techies and sager didn't realize this as i told them exactly what i was seeing. oh well, as is true many, many times ... the forums are the best place to get info. thank you very much for your help!!!!!

Anyone know what this BIOS update is for? I haven't seen a post in the forums (unless I missed it) or on the site.
yes : 1- to fix that pressing f2 doesn't enter the bios page

2 - show vbios date on the startup

thats all dude so no need to update it i think

1.00.04 2005/5/24
1. To fix the problem that cannot get into BIOS by pressing F2.
2. To display the created date of VBIOS in BIOS setup.

are the exact words

Bye

Also, if you want the Intel 6xx series CPU support, you need this BIOS or at least the previous 1.00.03. HyperSonic has posted both the new 1.00.04 and H8 1.00.02 BIOS in their supprt pages for the EX7 as well.

odd, i never had these problems before updating with the 1.00.04 bios.
I actually did have the F2 problem for getting into the BIOS with 1.00.02, but the problem has now disappeared completely with 1.00.04.

please post H8 1.00.02

Could you please post the H8 1.00.02 keyboard bios update?
Especially if it's newer than the 1.00.P4 update in the forums.
Thanks!
