Finally a FIX for the Intel 2915 abg card

BIG NEWS for Intel 2915 802.11 abg wireless Owners

I wanted to let you all know that I contacted Intel support about my 2915abg dropping connections and the speed dropping down to 1Mbps even though the connection quality was good and they e-mailed me a link to a new driver and software. (Driver Version 9.0.1.21 for the 802.11 abg card). They told me this WOULD fix the problem.

This driver replaces the buggy 9.01.9 version. The new driver is NOT listed on the Intel Support website - you will need to call tech. support to get the driver.

I installed it and my connection has been rock solid at 54 mbs. And I don't experience the delays and pauses anymore either and the wireless throughput has gone way up. No glitches on this one !!!!!!!

Here you go Duffy - This is what they emailed me and you can download it from this link below. Boy does it work GREAT on my new Sony A600. The previous 2915 driver had all the problems noted by a number of people.... Now it's perfect

The download is more than just the driver, it's an Archive with contains both the new driver and a new version of the intel PROwireless Software.

This new Software is NOT listed on the Intel Support website -

You will neeed to download -
The Archive containing device driver version 9.0.1.21 and IntelĀ® PROSet/Wireless Software version 9.0.1.4. Instructions are included.

YOU MAY WANT TO GET SPECIFIC INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FROM INTEL TECH SUPPORT. You can get ahold of them at (916) 377-7000.

This is what They emailed me ....... I installed it... And it works GREAT !!!

Agreed, I think the A6xx is the best out today for digital photography, not if you backpack though! But portable enough to take around, and beautifull enough to actually do final editing on. I've given up my old 19"crt, no need with this thing!

I'm a canon shooter myself, recently acquired a mint 1Ds and having a blast with it!

I've also just ordered the screen cleaner you recommended, can't believe they single out the VIAO, so it must be just what we need! Can't wait for that to come in, as it is difficult to get this beauty clean...

Happy shooting!
