It is heavy, it's my notebook/Need lightweight notebook suggestions

Hi,

I recently bought a Latitude 410, advertised at 3.8 lbs. Huh! try 6lbs! When I got the machine, upgraded to 1 G hard drive and 80ram, with its 6 cell battery it weighed almost 6lbs! I returned it.

I'm looking at the Latitude X1 but don't like that it has no connection for an air card as the 410 did, I need to be on the internet everywhere. I'd like to get a Dell because of their great tech support but want lightness, ideally at least a 12" screen, power, reliability and connectivity - I may need to go outside Dell

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I was also looking for an ultralight, because i take notes a lot in class and i needed somthing light, small and long battery life. I chose the Asus S5N, if you search for my posts, you can find some pictures of it. I love it, its 2.8lbs. On the stock battery its got close to 3 hours battery life, and you can get a high cap battery for 7+ hours. It also has integrated wifi if that is what you are talking about, and also a pcmcia slot.

Try the Sony S Series, they weight ~4.5 and the T series is even lighter, ~2.8

Sorry had to make fun of that comment!
get an IBM and feel the difference in level of support, just try and call them up for a sales quote.

IBM sales rep/ support rocks.
