DVD write error

I finally decided to try the DVD writing functions of my Sager 3750, in a moment of what I took to be cleverness I bought RW DVD so I can get the hang of burning these things. It has proven to be a wise choice.
I have the standard Toshiba DVD-R/RW Drive that is coming with these, and tried using Nero. I have not been able to burn even one DVD. It hardly even starts before I keep getting a write error at 1,38kb.
Anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Probably a stupid question on my part, but you're not trying to use a DVD+RW are you?

I had the same thought, and have checked 3 times.

Have you tried using a different brand of disks?

I also use DVD-R/RW drive and Nero Express and Nero Vision Express. I have had no problems burning DVD's at all.

Are you trying to burn DVD or VCD or SVCD?

Make sure that the "Toshiba DVD Drive" is selected in the drop down window. NOT the Image recorder or CD-RW.

Have you got any other programs that are trying to access the DVD/CD? I turned off all my other software that accesses the DVD/CD on my laptop.

Hope this helps.

When I first noticed the errors It turned out I was using the image drive. I have corrected that, but still can’t burn a disk.

Now my touch pad has stopped working, and no matter what I do I can’t get the drivers to load correctly. I need to manually delete them and try again. I just haven’t made the DVD thing a priority.

It is odd though.

I wish Sager had a person you could call to talk to. Callbacks due little good if they have to call me at work.

Sounds like you could have a software conflict with your programs. This could causee all kinnds of errors and trouble.

Have you tried doing a System Restore to an earlier point that you know works, or do you have a System Backup on another HD?

If you don´t have one fixing things becomes more difficult!!

Post back when you can.

I was still waiting to get the system tweaked right before ghosting the image.
The backup points have not helped, I think because the system still finds whatever drivers that are causing the error.
The DVD recorder has not worked since the first week, but I had already added stuff by then.
