I just pity those who pay full price for dells.
Asus Z71v fits you like a glove with those requests.

That statement could be disputed.

If you are going to go with AW... you might want to look at the Sager 9880. Same computer that is not only less expensive but currently has better processors.

And if you buy it through PCTorque.com better customer service and no stupid paint job or glowing alien head. Unless you want one, of course.

Being an owner of different laptops and having friends with different laptops I must say Dell is good stuff on laptops, the ones I've seen at least.

However!, having a Dell desktop is BS!!!!, Dell has good PDAs, good Laptops, good Monitors, but their Desktops SUCKS!!!! and big TIME!!!, I do tech support and let me tell you those desktops sucks big time!. Besides if you can't build a desktop by yourself and have to depend on a company you might suck too!. I mean buying a desktop anywhere is a ripoff, specially from dell.

About Alienware, Alienware SUCKS! they are a bunch of BS. My roomate had a Sentia and his LCD screen broke. Did anyone had a solution for him? NO!!!!! he had to send it to Uniwill. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!!!! Alienware SUCKS MAJOR AZZ!!!!

Sorry for all the flaming, I'm feeling a little aggresive today. I have a lot of hating for other companies too, but I'm going to stick to the point.

the different gaming laptops i've looked at
are the
xps
alienware's
sagers
&
Asus

ARE there any others that i should be viewing?

*office small buisness or office professional the only difference like powerpoint right?*

i think you might want to also check out Acer Ferrari 4000 when it comes out
post #51 of 62
xps
alienware's
sagers
Asus
& Acer Ferrari 4000

Sager is at the top because the same system's it cost 300 less(not as good looking but with 300 dollars in my pocket...i can manage to just take my contacts out)
then AW(looks the leetest and is second in power)
then xps(is a dell and isn't as powerful and looks not so good and has screen probs)
then asus

and i have no clue about the acer ferrari
so if you could post that info it'd be nice also on the Sager config
it has this processor the em64T that just a 64 bit like amds?
*sry for like invading this guys thread like this and all the noobish questions if its to much flame or w/e i will easily do more reasearch on my own*

Ferrari 400 has Athlon 64, with AMD64 tech. The EM64T of intel is similar, but not quite as good and up to date; the reason is fairly complicated, having to do with the usage of bounce buffers for the address BUS of the mem controller beyond 32 bit addresses. So essentially, if you have more than 4 GB of memory, then AMD 64 will be able to access the address faster, hence has lower latency in reading the memory.

Otherwise, they are essentially the same thing.

I dont understand this statement. I started this thread having the pentium M in mind for battery life.... So... accordingly isnt the xps the most powerful since it combines the pentuim M with the gforce 6800? and cheapest?
Scott
BTW (I think owning a laptop with 10 minutes of battery life is a waste... that is why I have not considered any AMD or P4 notevooks)

I wouldn't use a Dell even if they paid me. I simply don't support any companies with such an unethical business practice as Dell

Hey snorre,

Didn't your mom teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all?

I hate to buy a Dell, but

I did it anyhow. I wanted the p-m with the 256Mb Video card. I looked around and no one else made one so that was pretty much the deal breaker. Again I would rather have the AW or Asus or anything, but htey are not yet available and I need it withi9n a couple of weeks. I'm thinking of peeling all of the dell logos off and slapping a bunch of alien or doom 3 stickers al over it. Ig you think peeps here dont like dells, my friends are oging to give me the hardest time!
Anyhow, thanks for all of your help and input. I'll post my 3d mark result when I get it installed...
BTW the machine came to 2971.99 for a p-m 2.0 w/256M ram, 60 G H.D, 256M geforce go, wireless card, and whatever else I ordered with it...
Scott

THANK YOU EVERYONE!

They are laptops, not divine items. They are going to break for sure, but I bet not before most other brands.

It's not really the hardware quality but the way they are made. They don't have mlots of tiny wires like most Sonys and Compaqs have. Those wires break and cause shorts and all.
