Becoming very very very Scared

Thread Starter
Hello guys, as many of you noticed in an earlier post I was about to come out of my skin with excitement for my new Alienware. Since then I have had nothing but a nightmare. 22 days after ordering the machine I was still in phase 2. Customer support said the error was theirs and that they had erroneously put a hold on my account. I was then told that my order would be given priority status and that the machine would deliver in 4 business days. 2 Days later I recieve an E mail saying that they do not have the parts for my machine (big surprise). How can they charge 4 thousand dollars and then treat their customers like this. The overwhelming attitude at AW is if you dont like it....cancel. So I went the the Great Google and did a search for AW complaints. OMG, thousands of people have experienced the exact same thing and , upon receipt of their machine, had nothing but more problems. Does anyone have any reassuring words. Ive invested a ton of money.
System:

P4 3.8
2 X 60 gig hd @7200 RPM
2 X 1 gig Ram
ATI 256 36
CD/DVD burner
17 inch Wide Screen with enhanced view and camera

Im kind of a noob and thatnks for any replies....TC

well it's friday and memorial weekend, Craig or Aurora (AW Mod Squad) will probably PM our AW reps here that frequent the boards to help you out. I can honestly say that 90% of us on these forums have had a great AW experience. So just be patient and enjoy your long weekend, and hope we can get everything resolved next week.

best wishes

I ordered mine over a month ago (I'm in the UK), and apart from a slight delay due to parts backorder, I've had no problems with AW. The 7700 I ordered runs extremely well - no hardware issues, no dead pixels, no fan chirping, no problems at all (yet). You'll find that there are as many horror stories for other pc suppliers. Obviously the focus is always on the negative aspects. Most people who are happy with their machines don't mention it on the forums etc.

I've had a good experience with AW customer service to date and I'm extremely happy with my 7700.

I had a hold put on mine for some reason also, but probably because I still had my Ohio driver's license and a NJ address. But I had also included a copy of my passport. Anyway, it took me quite a few phone calls to get things straightened out. Ended up taking a total of about one month to get it. And yeah I was going crazy during that period. Kudos to Jorge for following up on each step and sending me emails on a near daily basis. Have had the machine for over two weeks, and all I can say is it is one kick ass lappy. Patience is your friend. And keep calling them.

It's really unfortunate... the system that is. I know what you mean by "if you don't like it, cancel it," attitude that you seem to get. There's really nothing we can do about it.

I suggest that you give them a call every single day to check on the status and wait it out. The 7700 is awesome.

nothing to be scared about, its just a computer...

and, as far as all the negative stuff, I must say they are not an easy company to deal with all the time, but people ALWAYS are quick to complain about things, and very rarely have anything nice to say...

I was angry also with the lack of a "feel good" during the ordering and waiting process, but 10 days into the machine, its awesum...even though they "forgot" a thing or 2 on my machine, they shipped it out the next day as promised, and everything runs perfectly.

you need to just relax, and stop reading all the negative stuff, and like others have said here, call every day or 2 to let them know you are following up on your machine;

It will come when its done!

If you check any other company you will find the same thing thousands of bad reivews and no good ones.. Like the other said, no one complains about good stuff. :-) Humans are complainers by nature.
I just ordered one its been sitting in my room at my house for 2 weeks i cant get it for another 20 days.. IM in iraq. Its killing me.

Fakinay - I've been there - just keep calling. Once it arrives, the pain will be replaced by insane pleasure (providing you don't get a visit by DB - if you do, it'll just be insane).

Archerion - You are so right - there are complaints and bad reviews on every computer. Take care and be safe - I hope the 20 days fly by for you.

Hell, I'd be scared too if I knew that an alien would soon he inhabiting my house.

Wait a sec, I think I just spotted one!!!

funny, I cancelled mine too due to lack of adequate service, bought the same chassis they use (clevo D900T) and biult up my own DTR that performs better than my mate Nick's AW 7700 that is *supposedly* the same spec

and cost nearly 900 pound sterling less

yes i dont have the customer service offered by AW but hey, if I want to be told to go away Ill start a conversation with my wife! at least she is straight with me!

I am a 2 year owner of a AW Sentia. Although I didn't have that great of an experience myself. I must admit that they do come through, given ALOT of time. So just sit back... Buy another, cheap substitute computer... (you'll need it I sure did) and hopefully you can enjoy your AW when it's in good working state. Good luck and enjoy your AW, I sure did.
