z71v unable to connect to internet

Help. I tired Asus customer support. Little to no clue. Basic advice reinstall windows? I am having a problem connecting to the internet via a static dsl and dynamic cable modem connection. ipconfig shows standard information. the LAN and internet explorer settings have been set to auto and manual config with no luck. I was able to get the unit to work 3 times since i received it on tuesday. I surfed for hours last night and then suddenly I was unable to connect?

DOes anyone have any idea how this type of an intermittent problem could happen, its source, and a possible hardware/software fix?

I am going to try a wireless connection to see if I can connect that way. If this does work but the line ethernet doesnt work, where to next? reinstall ethernet drivers? reinstall windows?

Thanks

well if you were able to connect but now you are not it may a port blockage problem. Do you know know to test your dns

go to start, run , type in cmd. in the black box type ping www.yahoo.com

If it work right you will see pinging adkidns.yahoo.com or somethig like that and the ip address of yahoo. If that dose not work then it may be that port 53 on the computer may have been blocked my something. Try that and let us know what happens.

What have you installed on the computer. You may need to reformat and just try again
