How long until Sager releases drivers for the 8890/5680? I'm super excited for these, as they're supposed to triple frame rates in HALO!
Nothing says they will release em.

On the other hand, i hear mobilemod works well...

New drivers up on ATi's site... only a matter of time before someone hacks them for the mobility chipset
post #5 of 16
so you need special drivers for the mobility radeon?

Not really, ATi just doesn't handle mobile driver releases because a Dell m10 could be completely different from a Sager m10. But... In the past you could use this stuff called MobileMod to install normal catalyst drivers on mobile chipsets.

different how?

Different power requirements, battery saving methods, etc.

BUT! They must be re-written to have those kinds of features. Even then, they may be nothing more than a modded INF (install file), which can be made useable too.

So I don't see M10 or Mobile 9600 in the Catalyst 3.8 INF Files. What does hacking the inf file entail? Presumably just directing the install to use a driver meant for another card. Which one? The 9600 Series?

In a review article of the M10 I saw reference to a display control panel tab that set power/performance features of the M10. Why isn't this in our approved drivers?

How do you install the catalyst drivers. When I try to install them it dosent work.
Wow, that MUST be qualified as the laziest post EVER! Not only did you NOT have to use the search button, but the answer was a mere 4 posts above!

No hard feelings, but this was covered literally 4 posts above... Read them. The mobility chipsets are NOT supported by ATI, so the stock drivers won't work. That's why everyone's talking about hacking the inf files.

whoooo... what a dumb ass I am. I was looking at a page and thought it said mobility drivers as I was reading it. Goes to show you what too much time on the computer can do to your brain.

Lol, I know what you mean... Once had to work on this big video editing project. Started in the morning, I was braindead by afternoon, and forget the evening...

Actually its more or less been messing with this screen problem. I am still patiently waiting on a bios update from sager... Makin me NUTS!!! But I am sure it will be fixed.

I installed the ATI Catalyst 3.8 Drivers.

First I Moded the drivers using instructions from here:
http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/

This still won't install, so then I went to Device Manager and updated the card manually.

Then I went to the ATI Control Panel directory from the 3.8 and installed the Control Panel.

I also installed PowerStrip and found my threshold for no video artifacts with overclocking was Engine: 400mhz, Memory: 250mhz

I got a score of 3217 using 3dMark03
