Fever103, yea... these programs take too much memory and cpu. no im not using final scratch, i use virtual dj with timecoded vynil. i hear to many bad things about final scratch in the dj community. im gonna go for the 7200 RPM for sure. a gig of ram should be nuff and a pM 1.86. hows that sound for specs? will my desktop stil look very nice with 64/128 MB Video? also, dont the ASUS Z70V use 128 Mb of video?
I use older version of final scratch... works great for me. The only problem is that encodings on Mp3's must be identical to preserve the flow. Thats probably why peeps complain and you need a clean [usually] lead in/fade out. which is not always possible.
Sound: Well, No laptop sound card will ever be good enough. You can always use PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy its pretty good and tere are other PCMCIA DJ adapters out there. However, I dont think it will be too much of an issue.
If your from the states you must have heard of Space Girl, she is a PA and she uses some very basic laptops with her synths. [I used to hang out with her long time ago]. Well, anyway, she used very basic setups with lappies and sound was never really an issue that much. You know you can use an amp and with DJM mixer you be ok.
I will check out VDJ stuff..
PS. Video: Yes, I believe they do come with 128 mb, I just presumed it might be cheaper to go with 64 [Not sure]. But in either case it will look allright. Main issue is CPU/Memory/Fast HDD. Everything else is superfluous.
