That's pretty nice, but my question to you:

How much does it cost?

Hehe all im saying is its cheaper then alienware

The dual-core P4 won't be much help on games, unless you want to watch a DVD or something while playing your game.

Drop the dual-core and spend the money on RAID-0 10K RPM drives.

you could get an XPS configured with
3.2 Ghz Processor
X850 XT PE
512mb RAM (everyone gets the least and upgrades later, it saves money)
80 GB harddrive (save money, upgrade later)
Dual Drive: DVD-ROM CD-RW drive (plop a dvd-rw/cd-rw drive in place of the CD-rw)

for $1,776 (bet thats less then what you payed)
thats with a 15" flat panel moniter

and these are just the configurations I want, you can always change them

I'd give it like an 8.5 It's a pretty nice setup. My only thought would be 2 GB's of RAM (eventually) and maybe another HD. Nice processor and vid card though.

On order:
Sager 9880
3.4Ghz EMT64
2GB's DDR2
2X(60 GB 7200RPM HD's) RAID 0
8X DVD Burner with lightscribe
Nvidia 6800 Go Ultra 256 mb DDR3

You can get a Gen5 with Dual Core.
The dual core will not help you as previously said because no one programs for it yet. It might be worth it in the future. However, I would recommend boosting the ram to at least 2gb. That will be the most notable difference as far as gaming goes. Dual core is a nice investment. However, unless you want to drop the extra cash it is not worth it. Buy ram. Other things to consider are the mouse and the screen. Laser mouse is a must for gaming. Also, alot of the flat screens are actually slower in response time than some of the flat tubes. Check out the response times. Otherwise, the system looks good.

I would say get dual core. That way, when those multi-thread games come out soon, you will be ready with the best for it, not just HT.

candyman1982,

I just got my New Dim 9100 yesterday...it has the EXACT same config as what you posted except I went with the GeForce 6800 (to hold me over untill the new nVidia cards come out later this year). I installed the BF2 demo, and with all video settings set ot high and 4xAA, the game plays extremely smooth...even at 1600x1200@75hrz. I know the Pentium D is not THE gaming chip (at least untill they start making multi-threaded games), but, there is nothing like being able to alt-tab out of BF2 and surf the web and do other tasks without any hit to system performance. I will probably upgrade to 2GB RAM eventually by adding two more 512MB sticks.

otakuon, perhaps you could post some pics like I suggested in the other forum?

I saw them. Thanks.

Running games it will be just like a P4 3.2E. This is defintely not top of the line.

As far as 2gb ram goes, there is really little need for it now. Mabye EQ2 or BF2 will benefit but that is mostly rumors from a few message boards. Personally BF2 demo runs great for me with 1gb ram.

So for mainly gaming, you are better off ditching dual-core and going with a 660 or a 670.

Or better yet, for a real high-end gaming machine, ditch Dell altogether and get an A64 setup.

Thats the ticket right there. There is nothing better than a RAID 0 config with dual SATA drives spinning at 10000 RPM.......[/drool]
