Logitech vs. Microsoft Mouse

Thread Starter
I am thinking of purchasing a Logitech MX 510 Mouse, as I have read good things about it. I don't feel like ordering over the net, as I want a mouse for my new XPS 2 which should be arriving early next week. SO, that scratches Razer mice and the Logitech MX518 off the list (518 is impossible to find). However, I have read about the Intellismuse Explorer 3.0. How does this mouse compare with the 510? I know the 510 is not wireless, but the cord doesn't bug me that much. I just want a cool looking, comfortable, reliable, good-for-gaming mouse that doesn't cost $100.

I have used many Microsoft and Logitech optical mice, and I can honestly say that the Logitech mice blow away the Microsoft ones. Better feel, last longer, and much more accurate.

second that. i used MS mice for years until i tried my roommate's MX500. nothing but logitech for me since then.

I have been using logitech for years, they absolutely own microsoft. The feel is absolutely wonderful. I previously owned the mx700 but upgraded to the mx1000. I might or might not get the mx518, I haven't decided, lol. Always get a model that is right handed, not ones that can be used by either the left or right hand, they are so uncomfortable.

hmm, i think i have to switch to a logitech as well since i am currently using the microsoft wireless notebook mouse and i appear to be missing out....

what are some good recommendations for a portable wireless notebook mouse from logitech? i want to try one out

I'm using the MX900 bluetooth mouse. I love it! The response isn't as fast as a wired one, but it's bluetooth so i don't have any dongles. If you need smoother control, MX700 is another wireless option (though you need to hook up the dock...)

@norad200x can you also use the setpoint drivers with internal bluetooth?

Hmmm go for Razer's Diamondback mice... they are the best gaming tweaked mice... Logitech MX1000 is great as well, but the huge base and power adapter is not really portable friendly...

My mouse is from Dell. I move it, and there is corresponding movement of the cursor on screen. I click the buttons, it does the corresponding action. I roll the wheel and the scroll bar goes up and down. I am happy.

I love the MX1000..everyday i wake up and caress it because it's so seksy... J/k. It's probably the best mouse that money can buy right now...I had a razor mouse, and it felt like the build was cheap imho and I just didn't like how it felt so hollow. Amen to "Scream and Fly"...you really can't compare logitech mice with microsoft mice...logitech is pretty much the king of all computer mouse companies. I even see mac noobies @ my university using logitech mice with their p-p-powerbooks( ;-) ).

Most Dell optical mice are just logitech mice!

Logitech definitely makes a better quality product than MS. I've used both for many years. Currently using the MX900 and MX510 (travel). Considering the MX1000

Using the MX700 now. Got the MX900 BT with the diNovo KB. Also have the MX1000. All waiting for my XPS2 to arrive.

Havent looked into the MX510, Is that wired?

yes it is wired

If Logitech put out an MX1000 BT model that did not use a big base, I would buy it immediately

Ya, that would be sweet.
But I will be using a docking station, so when I game I can use the MX1000.
