I *think* the short life batt is due to:
1. 2.0Ghz CPU
2. Bluetooth being turned on all the time?
That's a possiblity with the Bluetooth, but the 2.0 shouldn't use that much more power, even though it can't be undervolted as much.

I’d write my notes, and type of my reports for hours. Taking a break periodically to turn it back to normal, and do a little more matinence, such as installing new programs, then when break was over I’d go back. Despite the amount of activity, I was happy to see I got almost 5 hours of battery life, and had about 15 percent of the battery remaining before I went home. I think it could have easily went closer to six hours had I kept it on ultimate battery life

Hmm.... I've never seen those comments before. This is a little disconcerting, as I always make sure bluetooth is turned off when I'm not using it. I've never used the Sony power management utility. I may try some more battery tests using that...

PM replied to.

I figured out the battery life issue... since I have a file server, and I set up winamp to stream media from my server, when doing the battery tests with winamp playing, it was as if I was doing constant downloading. (This would decrease battery life, right?) I have since reconfigured winamp to read from the local hdd and will redo all the battery tests.

I am currently in the middle of testing the extended battery... 5:13 left with 83% remaining. This should yield a little under 6:18 total (313min / 0.83 = 377min = ~6.3hrs = 6:18).

I will retest the regular batteries when I am finished with the extended battery.

Ok, I finished all the battery "re"tests. I fully charged each battery, then let it run to 8%. Using a little math, I calculated the theororetical battery life...

All power management stuff (undervolting, cpu scaling, etc. )
Screen Brightness @ 8 (out of a total 9 settings)
Extended Battery: 6:32
Regular Battery 1: 4:26
Regular Battery 2: 4:18
Screen Brightness @ 1 (out of a total 9 settings)
Extended Battery: 7:16
Regular Battery 1: 5:01
Regular Battery 2: 5:06

Bump for a nice laptop...

How much for just a regular battery?
Are you taking best offers yet, or still holding out at $1900?

I am considering ALL offers at this point.

Unless a sale goes through for the laptop, and the buyer does not want both standard batteries, I am not selling the batteries seperately.
