Battery life, heat, noice (and over all system cost?) should be better compared to a 60gb 7200rpm too. and 100gb is alot of storage! I rather have a massive 100gb HD anyway, and at 5400rpm paird with high density it's going to be pretty fast aswell! I say Acer made a solid choice on the HD this time.

not always true actually. thread on rpm tradeoff the stats here showed neglible differences between the 7200 and 5400 rpm drives.

good then but does that mean a 100gb with 7200rpm would be a beast of hdd for laptops?

I would think so. Too bad they won't be out for a while, and when they do come out, they will cost too much for me to buy. I hope they drive down the price of 100 gb 5400 rpm drives when they come out .

Processor: AMD Turion 64 Processor
OS: Microsoft Windows X64 Proffesional Edition (upgraded it from XP Prof.)

The proccesor has strong performance while generating little amount of noise and heat. I still feel the noise and heat after a while but its much better than the 3400.

Memory: 2 GB of DDR3 (upgraded from 1GB)

With two GBs of memory this outperforms my desktop.

Display

15.4" WSXGA TFT LCD, 1680x1050 resolution. The colours and screens are nice but you can still noticeboly see the difference when looking from the side.

Storage: 100 GB ATA/100 5400RPM

Plenty of storage for your files while making up for the 7200RPM.

GPU:ATI Mobility Radeon X700 128MB PCI-E

Much stronger than the 9700 runs HL2 full settings with 4X AA at about 70+ fps.

Audio: Dual built in speakers AC'97 compliant S/PDIF Support

Excellent built in speaker. Compare to the Ferrari 3400's audio this can go about 1/3rd with only distorting a little bit of sound at full blast. I can now play music at full blast while being a few meters away from it and hearing it loudly. Best audio system i've seen in a laptop.

Optical Media Drive: Slot-load DVD-Super Multi double layer drive

a little noisy when playing DVD but the internal drive is excellent with double layer. now i can load 2 CD/DVD at once and burn them easier.

Design

The carbon casing of this laptop is a beauty. the looks that i dont like about this laptop is the inside. i dont mean i dont like it i mean i dont like i mean that it isnt as good as the Ferrari 3400's inside. this looks too plain and simple not as what we call 'diao' in Taiwanese.

Thats all for now I dont have time right now I'll detail it and complete it later. I can't be bothered to take pictures since there are plenty around.

Does it feel hot on the left palm as the ferrari 3200/3400?Which part is the most hottest part of the laptop?

The left palm gets a bit warm after like 2-3 hours but i wuldnt say that it get hots and you have to get your hand off the left part. Maybe during hot days you might have to do that. During long hours the bottom gets a bit hot.

So you mean it's feeling much better than the 3200/3400.My 3200 get very hot on the left palm after half an hour gaming and the temperature rises to 54 degree. I have to take off my hands.Otherwise, I will get burned. The comfatableness is the primary desicison for me whether to buy the 4000 or not.

if you get one of those external fan pad thingies (sory dont know what they're called) that you put under your laptop i rekon the heat wont be a problem at all

I believe Hitachi is already sending their 100GB 7200rpm 2.5 HDDs to the resselers. Seagate is following closely too. Also, Seagate has a 120GB 5400rpm 2.5 HDD that shall be available pretty soon. just check the manufacturers website.

you guys should have it about next month.

I had my processor on AMD Turion 64 3700+ with 2 gb ram. the hard drive has PLENTY(100GB) of space for a notebook but the dissapointment is the 5400rpm. The GPU, as i said before is very strong compared to the 3400. sorry just a short review a proper long one will be wrote after more testing.

Erm, is the 4000 running on a 3700+? i will go look on amd's website, i didn't know they were classified in this way....
No, they aren't numbered this way. Am i splitting hairs, or are we talking about a different processor?

I was just wondering if the Ferrari 4000 has a glossy screen?
I don't see anything in the manual that says if the screen is glossy or not, sorry. Another question is, what chipset does the wifi use? I am hoping it supports wpa2 or at least wpa. Again, acer's website and the manual don't really say much about invilink.

What's the battery life like, either with batterymark or playing dvds till it dies?
