I take your point Luke and no doubt in the areas of multi-tasking, the P4 has a clear advnatage. My area is actually 3D animation, simulation and compositing, not games. All of these are pretty CPU and OpenGL intensive, often beyond the capabilites of any notebook.
I respect your passion for these machines, I have heard nothing but wonderful things about these notebooks and the service you provide to your customers. For me, the whole joy of getting a notebook was portability (i.e. running on battery when needed) and using my toy while it comfortably sits on my lap. That's what tilted me toward the XPS2.
I am fascinated by the obsession with wanting to turn a notebook into desktop killers. No laptop on earth is going to outperform the desktop machines I use at work, so it's never going to be an issue for me. With due respects, RAID 0 or 1 or otherwise, few professional would bank on this set-up to protect data on a system that, by definition, is constantly moved around and bound to encouter some nasty knocks. That's what backups and external hard drives are for. As for storage, my personal assets take up the better part of terrabyte so storage is not a deciding factor for me.
I do appreciate your comments Luke.
