I returned my AW 7700m for a host of problems but could only get credit unless I paid the 15% re-stock fee. So instead I applied the money to a Aurora 7500 desktop. Seeing how I still needed a laptop but took a hard hit to the wallet from the AW situation I came across this gem.

Heres the specs....

Inspiron 9300 Intel® Pentium® M Processor 750 (1.86 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Display 17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™
Memory 256MB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 1 Dimm
Video Card 256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800
Hard Drive 60GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
Operating System Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
Network Card Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
CD/DVD Drives 24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
24COMBO
Wireless Networking Card Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless (802.11 a/b/g, 54Mbps)
Digital Music Dell Jukebox - easy-to-use music player and CD burning software
Primary Battery 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (53 WHr)
6BAT
Limited Warranty, Services and Support Options 1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr Mail-In Service, and 1Yr Technical Support

I plan on ordering a 1gig stick and adding it as Dell's memory upgrade price was insane. I looked on newegg but can't seem to find the right stick. Any links would be much appreciated. Is this the right one?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820208024

I'll keep you guys posted on the process.

Availing,

I read your thread on the AW forums... i know dell has its issues with service, but i guess i never notice them, because i buy everything from small business. Their service has been rock solid, and that's pretty much all my company buys as well.

Good luck with the laptop...

I hope not.
The only problem I can see is if I don't like the ulta screen. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and am pretty picky. I have no idea what "sparkles" are but if I dont like the screen I'll request a change and if they don't then I guess I'll just return it and re-order a new one with the other screen.

I wish someone who's seen AW's 7700m's screen could give me a comparison. The 7700m's screen is amazing!!! Is the ultra screen on the 9300 the same as the XPS screen? If it is that will ease my tension a bit.

Sweet. It shiped today.

My Aurora should be showing up thursday too. Gonna be a busy week. Now I gotta start reading how to reformat and get rid of all the Dell crap. I requested the CD's with my order but I doubt they'll show up. Then on to learning about OC'ing the 6800.

You will enjoy it. No sparkles here with an LG.

Hey it showed up today. I'm amazed at how fast it was shipped. No dead pixels but some light leakage across the bottom. I don't think it looks that bad. I'll be honest it dosnt even compare to the screen on the AW 7700m but its not bad. It wouldnt be fair to even comment on the performance right now.

I'm in the middle of cleaning this sucker out. Then I'll post a decent review. I've never reformated before so I hope I dont screw it up. Black Vipers site is down so wish me luck....

Wow, you have configured it the exact same way as I did. How much did you pay?

Be sure to post that review

Well, I havent ordered it yet. Thats a very good price. I was a pain in the ass to a couple dell reps so I got a good discount so the following system cost $1550.

1.86pm,
6800 go,
UXGA,
7.2krpm 60gb hdd,
dvdrw,
blue quicksnap
1.25gb ram,

I'm reformatting with a Dell tech, who by the way is great. But he told me to not to delete partion 1 or 3 just to reformat partion 2 (c drive). I've read here that that others have delted the others. He said it was pointless becuase of all the info was on the c drive only.
