15.4" Qosmio Now or Wait for Refresh?

I have a bit of a dilemma. I think I've made up my mind to buy a Qosmio due to the excellent screen on the laptop. From what I've read it has dual lamps and it seems to really make it astoundingly bright. Anyway my question is should I buy one of the existing Qosmio's now and get it a bit cheaper or should I wait for one with the Sonoma refresh and pay more. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

its only the latest model the G20 (G25 if your in the states) that has the dual lamps from what i know....so i would say get the G20/25 instead of the older G10 model. although the G10 is still very nice i do prefer the G20.

The F10 and G10 both have the dual lamp system.

The current G20 also has the dual lamp system, but is brighter than the G10.

The F20 launching in June is also scheduled to be again a dual lamp system and brighter than the F10.

So... it depends. F10 should be dropping in price on shelf based on the new launch later next month.

So around 2,000 US dollars. I may be able to live with that. Any significant differences between the new and old models besides the sonoma refresh?

I'm in the same boat. Or thinking the same thing rather. For me it would only be a $200.00 (Cdn) price difference and a 2-3 week wait. Do I really NEED the $200.00? Not really. So, I guess I can sit and wait a few more weeks to see what the new F20 includes. Love to have the G20 but thats another 1k.

Good luck!

Can anyone comment on the durability of the Qosmio series. Is the build quality pretty good. Also is the case just plastic or is it some kind of composite like some other laptops. Thanks

Jumping into this discussion, I'm interested in the 17" version of Qosmio. Is the new model G20/G25 expected to be available in June?

Well, we might get our wish sooner than we thought. If you go to the Toshiba.ca site (well their online shopping site to be exact) you will see they they have pulled all the Qosmio models but the G20. What does that tell you? Hmmm...

Delayed till July...doesn't look that way from my end...but we shall see! I too am eager to take a look at the new 15.4"...shelling out $3500.00 (before taxes) is a tad too rich for my blood. This is just a notebook after all. But this is just me.

Later guys!
