Not true... because ASUS has many new great notebooks out at the moment. The Z71v just happens to be the new CL56...yes... but ASUS also has the W3V, V6V, W2V (on the way), M6/Z70 series, W5A, S5A/M5A.... and the list goes on.
They basically have a notebook for every segment of the market right now... which is why there are so many "fanboys"; they have beautiful looking laptops for a decent price... and they're built well.

I own a Uniwill 258KAO, it was a "mini fad" ...or more frequently metioned in anti-ibuypower/cyberpower posts and "is it true that if i game on 258kao my hand will get 3rd degree burns?" and so on. Last week I got my brother a z71v for his bday. I played around with it for a day configuring the hardware and installing all the software, I must say I am impressed. Nice build quality, although the WSXGA+ screen is cool, its not very "crisp" or not as much as it should be, it looks dirty, and i cleaned it with 3M laptop screen wipes. Hmm...either i am going blind or bad history with laptop screens runs in the family (see link in my sig for details).

the CL56 was a nice laptop, i would have probably ordered it if I didn't want widescreen and AMD64

the only thing they are missing right now are the larger sized DTR with 6800/x800 type of GPU, a la 'i9300/XPS2'

Right now, Asus seems to be hitting near the perfect mark imo. Lots of performance in a lightweight package. Dell and others seem to be hitting each side of the spectrum, and not even trying for something for the power user on the go.

after seeing the Asus models in Asia I can say that yes, they are better by leaps and bounds. They really are the notebooks to aspire to.

Compal didnt have their own forums either, yet it was the "hot" laptop for a few months. It seems that Asus has replaced that spot. Give it a few more months and I am sure another company will come up.

Hahaha...and if anyone asks you what model it is, tell them that it is the Asus 4c312

A little 1337-speak humor for you there

Shows what you know I have an Asus S5N, do you want to see pictures? And there's also something different about being a fan and an excessive stupid brand zealot like some people here in the forum. Brand loyalty and respecting a brand is one thing, selective ignorance is another.

"OMFGZ YOU BOUGHT ANOTHER THONG OTHER THAN AN AMD/ASUS/INTEL OMG YOUZ A NOOO FAN!~"
