I am deciding on buying a new laptop for school. Ihave done much research and have veiwed MichaelX30's 17" laptop buying guide. I first had decided on the Sager 4750, but after realizing that it's a lost cause trying to pair a top-of-the-line gpu with an AMD Athlon I have almost decided against it. I am not a die-hard gamer, but when I do play games I like to have the best and I would like to have the best graphics when watching movies. What I want is:
1. 17" Montitor
2. 256mb GPU
3. Good Battery Life 2-3 hours.
I would like to have freedom and mobility for my laptop. I know that the P-4's use a lot of power and aren't that much faster than the P-M's. Other than the P-M's from dell I don't see any none P-4's with my requirements. I don't hear the best things about Dell's, but right now the XPS2 and the 9300's are the only notebook with P-M's, a 256 GPU's, and a 17" monitor. I would like to have the 64-bit AMD, and enjoy the rave reviews I hear about the speed, reliability, and monitor clarity of the Sager 4750. The fact that the Sager 4750 doesn't have good battery life (not more than 2 hours) and it doesn't have a stellar graphics card makes me look towards the less future proof 32-bit Pemtium M's. I need to make a decision by the end of July. If it were in my best interests I could wait a few months into school, and word process in their computer labs, but it would be easier for me to have a laptop before school starts. Price isn't really an Issue, is their perhaps a more expensive AMD processed laptop with a removable graphics card? I've heard that a removable graphics card is possible, but for a price.
P.S. Could I significantly underclock the AMD to get 2-3 hour battery life?
