Measuring 9860 Nvidia 6800 Temperature?

My 9860 has been shutting down with all new graphically intensive games (FEAR, OBLIVION, FABLE). So I just went through and cleaned out my fans and applied AS between the cpu/heatsink and gpu/heatsink.

My question is...

How do you measure the temperature on your gpu? Riva tuner doesn't seem to offer it for this card. Did Sager not slap a temperature probe on it? If so, how does it know to shut the computer down when getting too hot?

sager uses crappy paste on the GPU heatsink. I found this out when my 9860 was shutting down during gaming as well. Opened her up and found singed thermal paste. Thanks guys.

Put some Artic on it, problem solved. Still get stuttering though. Argh.
