Problem with reinstalling quickplay after formatting

I recently received my new dv1000. I formatted it right off the bat just to get rid of all of the HP bs it comes loaded with. While in the process of formatting I accidently deleted the partition used for the quickplay feature. After repartioning th HD, I still cannot get quickplay to install, it keeps telling me that there is not even HD space, or the system id is incorrect. What is the system ID, and I thought the HD partition for quickplay is supposed to be 204mb? When I put in the 204mb for the partition, it shows up as 203mb of free space...could this be the problem? I made the partition more than 204 at one point and it still did not work. Any ideas fellas?

its not about having that partition, its about having the original quickplay linux data stuff on that partition... I'm not sure how you go about putting it back on there, maybe it came with a recovery disk?

Hi d0unt0un,
Just leave the 204MB "unpartitioned" and then boot the computer from the Quickplay recovery CD. Follow the instruction and you are all set.

Reminder: Do NOT partition the 204MB. Just leave it as unpartitioned.

Help please

Hello, I have not been able to install the QuickPlay, I made the following thing: I fused the two existent partitions, and I left one of 59,780 GB and another of 220MB. Reboot and I inserted the disk of QuickPlay, but when it arrives to 2% it shows the following error: "has stopped the installation due to a you ID of incorrect system or I space in insufficient disk. Check their system and attempt it again." I am not sure, that partition type should use for the quickplay, because in the options of the software for partition (PartitionMagic) they are: without format, ntfs, fat, linux ext2, linux ext3, linux swap, and if it should be logical or primary y he intentado, sin formato y ntfs, pero no funciona.. I thank their help, because I don't manage English very well.

You need 204MB unformatted unassigned space for the QuickPlay installation. I assume you want the Quickplay installed in the 220MB partition. You just need to delete that partition in PM and leave that space open before booting with the QuickPlay CD again. I have my QP partition at the end of the drive. Some others have it in the beginning. I guess either way should be fine. In my case with the QuickPlay partition at the end, every time I add or remove a partition, I need to go through the QuickPlay installation again. It works a kind of like Windows multiboot. The QuickPlay is recongized by Drive#/Partition#. Anyway, the re-installation is simple.

Let's start from the beggining:

When installing Windows...

1.-Delete all the partitions or the ones you don't want.
2.-If you deleted all the partitions, you will have one unpartitioned disk, if you didn't delet all partitions, you'll have one or more partitioned space and some unpartitioned space.
3.-Create the partitions you need.
4.-To install QuickPlay you DO NOT have to make a 204MB partition. What you need is at least 212MB of unpartitioned space (204 for QuickPlay and 8 that for some reason are always left unused)
5.-Finish installing windows
6.-Restart, and install QuickPlay.

Hope this will help solve your problem. I had problems too, but I figured out how to install QuickPlay.

Don't forget to apply the update for QuickPlay after installation.
