Driver Issues for M505B2

Thread Starter
A buddy of mine picked up an M505 "B2" which apparently is the model released for purchase on home shopping channels or some crap.

Regardless. He gave it to me to use for school. Everything works flawlesly, however the wireless adapter has given me nothing but grief from the start.

Upon a fresh install of windows, the wireless adapter would not show up. So I began browsing Gateway's crappy website for the proper driver. It wasn't too hard to find, however the driver posted for the M505's wireless adapter DID NOT WORK. AT ALL. I went through hell trying to get it to work but it would not recognize the adapter as a useable peice of hardware.

For some odd reason, I used a driver from another laptop similar to the M505 I think and it's working,...............................

I am wondering if anyone else has run into this same issue and also if there is any remedy, or possible correct drivers out there. I could really use some help here as this is a decent laptop and I'd like everything running Tip Top.

Thanks in adavance. I will try to check up on the thread as much as possible but if you'd like to get ahold of me my e-mail is: 1836Colt45@COMCAST.net and AIM: EEZERLiVES

Thanks again and I hope to become enlightened

If you found the correct driver for the wireless card, I would like to know which one it is. I have had no luck on the Gateway website. The dirver I downloaded does not work. Thanks

I tried both and none of them worked. I took the laptop apart and found that Gateway does not have the driver for this laptop as they list the drivers for the intel 2100 adapter. I took the network card out and the sticker on the card listed a intel 2200GB. I downloaded the drivers from intel and sure enough, I was connected to the internet within 10 seconds. I hope this helps alot of people searching for the drivers for the M505B2 wireless network adapter. Gateway lists drivers for the Intel 2100 wireless card only, so if that does not work, try the Intel 2200GB drivers.
