When shopping, I looked at this
. And I was sold on Alienware after realizing the Alienware PCs look better than Sager.
With Reps.. I'm learning they are really weird. Some are great and know everything about everything, but then you get some who seem like they got fired from your local Best Buy store and lied on their application that they grew out of the work environment...
But yea... That offer does seem a bit off. In another couple of months, the price on the video card will be going down. Thus should the $220 dollar upgrade cost possibly (not saying it will, just saying it should unless they believe upgrading to "Ultra" for $220 dollars is fair enough since the card will be 600 - 700 dollars then). The warranty should cover all accessories, so exchanging the MOBO and AC adaptor.
Anyway, I say we just wait until the upgrade is available. Speculation and assumptions are never good, I've gone through it about four times with online games that I didn't get into the beta on and thought it would be one way, and turn out totally opposite on release. But I've been in more Alpha and Beta tests, so I'm happy that I didn't have to assume in those cause I would have been way off.
But yea, based on that chart, the only thing that the XPS has over the 7700 is size. It's got slower memory, processor, only two memory slots, no RAID hard drives, no AudioDJ (I think I'm gonna like the AudioDJ), no Internal Camera, and basically... It's just on a slightly lower level no matter how you look at it. Oh and it doesn't have a full size keyboard... dang I hate laptops for that reason...
Anyway, going to sleep now, I hope the upgrade is as nice as your representative explained.
Please Note: I am still in Phase 9 and wondering when I'm gonna skip to Phase 14.... At least I know they are taking their time on assembly. All the nice things I am saying about Alienware are subject to change upon delivery and my personal 1000 point inspection. Thank you!
