I want to know the best quality 2.1 speakers I can get for no more than $100. I will mainly be using them for gaming and DVD playback, I was going to go all out and get a 5.1 system, but I relized as nice as they are I just don't have the room for one. So any suggestions would be appreciated.

hmmm...Maybe I will have to make some room for them, I always talk myself into spending more than what I wan't to spend, but never regret it.

You dont HAVE to get them...search for deals...the ATP3 Altec Lansing speakers are very nice...well within your budget

You could prolly get a game or two with the $$$ you save

I am not so sure about getting refurbs - ask around - on this forums about everyones previous experiences...and then decide...

Yea I know I don't jump into things, thats why I usually spend more. The altecs are on display at my local best buy and circuit city I am going to go down there and see how they sound they are probably all I will need.

I am assuming you have a Laptop...

If so then dont discount good headphones - better positional sound than a 2.1 or even a 5.1 if you ask me

you can find great deals here : http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?topicID=1

I will be using them with my 8890 I ordered Tuesday, so I have time to look at my options. The headphones are an idea I will look into also. Just searching for accessories trying to make the waiting period go by a little quicker.

I got these Bose last week very happy with them, easy to transport- no sub but they have great bass. I got them at best buy they come in black, white,&graphite colors. I had the Z640 for desktop comp. the best sound if you want to carry that muck load. The bose are perfect for my notebook travel.
