You are asking about the distro right? Well, in that case, I am forced to say Gentoo. Gentoo is all about choice, and with portage, you can't get wrong in Gentoo. I tried all major distributions, and the only one left on my computer is Gentoo, because portage is just so useful.

As for me, I have KDE and Enlightment installed.

Aw comeon, we all like cheap hookers and booze... only cheap hookers are more expensive, so when you get 'em for free you don't check for the nasties. Er... yeah!

If im not mistaken, classic gnome doesnt include a brown theme with custom ubuntu wallpaper?

The only real difference with FC4 is the Redhat icon instead of a foot, which you can change, and the clearlooks theme, which is pleasent to look at and isnt brown.

ubuntu wallpaper is not standard equipment, nor is the whole "Human" theme. My point being is that Human is just a normal Gnome theme, not a complete gnome re-work

i like gentoo, just don't have the mind to spend time configuring it. I may not be the elegant user speaking, but I like things that just work (nothing against Gentoo, please. I actually admire it. my fault to not have time to do those things) and also light systems, so FC is something to put aside right away. Hey, FedoraCoreMan, i know you're very excited for entering the linux world, but Fedora is slow. On the easy way, I like (K)Ubuntu. On the "know your system better" side, I prefer slackware (sad that they will take gnome out).

btw, can someone tell me what is the meaning of 'fedora'? because in some latin languages, this word is written (and sounds) very, very close to "stench". seriously.

Courtesy of the Online Etymology Dictionary:

"1895, Amer.Eng. (in a Montgomery Ward catalogue), from "Fédora," a popular play by Victorien Sardou (1831-1908) that opened 1882, in which the heroine, a Rus. princess named Fédora Romanoff, was originally performed by Sarah Bernhardt. During the play, Bernhardt, a notorious cross-dresser, wore a center-creased, soft brimmed hat. Women’s-rights activists adopted the fashion. Men began to wear them with city clothes after 1924, led by Britain's Prince Edward (Edward VIII), the most influential man of fashion in his day. The fem. proper name is Rus. fem. of Fedor, from Gk. Theodoros, lit. "gift of god," from theos "god" + doron "gift.""
