iXPS GEN 2 VS 9880

I keep reading the iXPS2 is faster in gaming than the 9880. Both have 6800 ultras. I believe a P4 3.8 is faster then a PM 2.1. And the 9880 has SATA. So is the iXPS2 faster then 9880 and why?

The P-M 2.13 is a pretty speedy processor. In terms of gaming, it's about equivalent to a P4 at 3.6GHz. The fastest 9880 is probably faster than the XPS Gen 2 unless you pinmod a 735 and put it in there.

The XPS G2 has a few advantages though, namely: Battery life isn't 30 minutes, and it's lighter and thinner.

I would not buy any notebook with a hot running
Pentium 4.

Check out this Tom's Hardware comparison of the Dothan (P-M) vs. P4. Over without overclocking, the M outdoes the P4 for gaming.

..probably less with the ultra card. basically the battery in the 9880 is a UPS and that's it, a true DTR with a permament connection to the power point, imho.

Why build a desktop when you could order a 9880! They both get the same battery life too!!!

Well if space is a concern, and want a true desktop replacement, then the sager is the right choice...but if your like me, move around the house alot, then the xps/9300 is a better choice.( weighs less and better batt life, less heat ).I dont care about the video card, or playing games in the highest res...When u get older, things like that dont seem to matter too much, lol

But if i was tied to my desk like in the past, I would have gone for the new sager,,,,its a beast...same with the xps2...
