I have to admit that im getting a little tired of the post-whored out there that talk off the top of their head...Stop bashing the mx1000. Sure it has a huge adapter necessary to work it but it works through RF and thus is pretty fast. And as the last person mentioned you can turn the mouse off....Im not sure if those were the only wrong comments posted but please if you dont know what youre saying dont confuse everyone else with absurd remarks

I also had this problem: do I choose Logitech MX518, MX1000 or Razer Diamondback Plasma L.E. Well Razer was the first mouse of the bunch that I eliminated from the race. It's not as ergonomical as Logitech mice (logic says that a mouse that's made for, for example, the right-handers is more comfortable than a mouse that's made for both the right-handers and the left-handers). Furthermore, Razer suits best for people with smaller hands and you can't really rest your palm on the top of the mouse. It has a problem with the design: you might accidentally push the side buttons. Don't get me wrong, Razer Diamondback just might be a great mouse, but it's not for me.

I eliminated MX1000 next from the race. This decision was tough because I have no problems with carrying the docking station as I'm not travelling almost at all with my notebook (Acer TM8104, not yet bought). MX1000 has done well in tests and if I remember correctly from Tom's Hardware Guide reviews, MX1000 is better than MX510 or Razer Viper in terms of precision and responsiveness. Many people love it. And as I'm person that always wants to coolest and newest stuff, a mouse with laser and RF technology would be the ultimate. But MX1000 is not for me, I guess. First, I have a small desk space and the docking station would actually provide more irritation than a cord of a corded mouse. Moreover, MX1000 is a big mouse. It does have a weight to it and its physical dimensions are bigger than other Logitech mice. As I'm looking for the best mouse for games (and price is not an issue) I think MX1000 is not for me. I'm not a hardcore gamer but it would be nice to have a good gaming mouse.

When you surf the net and different forums you really see that most people love MX518, especially gamers. Sure there are more than a few fans of MX1000 and Razer Diamondback out there, but MX518 seems to be the most popular choice. I don't think that MX518 is way better it terms of responsiveness than MX1000. My single most important criterion is good ergonomics, and while MX1000 has received much praise over its great and comfortable design, the size and weight of this mouse are turn offs for me. So I think that if you are looking for other than corded mouse or don't care about performance in games, MX1000 is the best choice. For the left-handers and some gamers Razer Diamondack Plasma L.E. is the best choice. For those like me, who want an all-around mouse with great ergonomics that's also good for games, MX518 seems to be the best choice.

Not a gamer review...bluetooth not for gaming.

MX900 review
it recieved a 9.4/10. must be pretty good. only thing bad they said about it was that it wasn't for left-handers. (what are they 1 out of every 1,000,000 people ) I'm definately getting one.
I've read that Bluetooth has inherent lag in it that is worse than the USB port....worse than a USB wireless.

Check this webpage by a mouse manufacturer.

http://www.dvforge.com/themousebt.shtml

"Gaming Note: Bluetooth wireless mice are not as responsive to the quick motions required to play first-person action games as USB mice. If your main use for a mouse is fast-paced gaming, we suggest that you not buy a Bluetooth mouse (ours, or anyone else's). Instead, buy a good USB wired mouse for gaming."

I'm a mouse nut. Been through everything from Microsoft's old school optical, logitech dual elite, mx300, 500, 700, 900, 1000, 518, old school razer boomslang, and just got my diamondback plasma LE in the mail.

Verdict:

Microsoft -

Logitech -

Razer -

Logitech's best mice - 5 series and 7 series. The mx700 is an incredible mouse if you get past the weight of it. It is very quick and responsive, just as good as the 500 and 518. 1000 has some tracking issues that I dislike (quick to hibernate, tracks poorly if you tend to lift your mouse a lot while gaming).

Razer - If you can't get a logitech (or are left handed), get the diamondback. Control is on par with the Logitechs. My only quibble with the diamondback is that it's not the most comfortable, and the side buttons need work. Best played with your finger tips, as opposed to resting the palm of your hand on the mouse. My hand/fingers are pretty long and slim, so the diamondback isn't as comfortable as the logitech mice.

Either way, the logitech 500, 518, 700 (if you can get one), and razer diamondback are all exceptional mice.

*The Diamondback has on-the-fly sensitivity change button as well.
Razer Diamondback's on-the-fly sensitivity change requires installation of the razer software if I'm not mistaken whereas the Logitech MX518 has hardware DPI switch which doesn't require any installation of drivers to work which is better for me since I don't like to install any mouse drivers...

Guess my next mice would be the MX518, guess I'll need alot of getting used to the shape of it...

Anyway thanks for all the people who replied.
