XP Installation

i have xp media center 2004 on my desktop and xpmce 2005 on my laptop

if i put my 2005 cdin my desktop could i upgrade it to 2005

and will it delete my files

Do you own another license for MCE2005? MS's license doesn't entitle you to a free upgrade.

No but maybe yes. Uness you have a specific upgrade disk there will be no upgrading for ya.

But..... what you could do is put the 2005 disk in the drive and completely reinstall the OS. You will need to format the drive to ensure smooth operation though. But by having it installed on 2 machines. What that would do though is techincally make you violate your licensing. As you only can install the OS on any 1 machine.
