heads up for the update

apple stopped taking custom pb orders from corporate customers as of the 23rd. wwdc on the 6th.

I have it on source that g5 pb will debut at or within 2 weeks of wwdc.

If they debut a PB G5 now I can see it pissing a LOT of people off.
Sounds cool if it's real.

If a G5 PB ever came out, would it replace the current G4 PB price-wise? For example, a 15-inch G4 PB is $1999.99, when the G5 15-inch PB comes out, will it also be $1999.99 or will the price go up? I'm not a Mac user so I don't know the price cycles (I'm thinking of converting). If so, I can wait a few months rather than buying now.

Now this sounds interesting

Most interesting. My wife will NOT get an x86 laptop after she saw the 12" PB at the Charlotte Apple store. I wanted to wait until at least Paris before getting her one...

*grumbles* I wish I waited about a month to buy my apple. Oh well.

I'd like for the G5 powerbook to come out, so I can then sit back and wait it out until the second or third revision before getting one. Meanwhile, I'll be fine and content on my G4.

/me agrees with Frank. Wait until at least the second revision before buying a G5 PowerBook.

I bet, if new PowerBooks are going to be introduced so soon, that they'll be dual core G4s.

i should have also added to this post.. when i actually talked to apple they were very interested in figuring out what exactly i would like in an apple tablet.. apparently this has been a HUGE request - enough that they are doing informal market research. Who knows maybe we'll be shocked iwth a tablet.. but i DEFINITELY feel the pb is getting a monster update. I thougth about it after the post, it may not be a g4 - may be a dual core g4..I still feel it's something huge tho.

hooligan,
any way to find out if something similar is going on in re: to the iBooks, so far as the corporate ordering goes? i'd argue that the iBooks are in an even more dire need of an upgrade given the tiger requirements for core video. maybe we'll get both?
yahoo! is all I can say, now I can finally look in to getting that powerbook I've been wanting.

edit
Its not This/ is it?

Hooligan, when you first posted this you said that you were "tipped" that there might be a G5 PB in the works.

Now with all the commotion about Intel making proc's for Apple, with the Pentium M being the prize chip of the alliance. I think about all the possibility of having a G5 PB is out of the window. I dont think Apple would be stupid enough to release a G5 Powerbook just as they announced the two yeard HARD transition to Intel processors.
