Pentium M downclocking :-( - Page 2

It's patently obvious to even the most casual observer that it's weird to want to run a SpeedStep at max all the time (especially when they can't/won't provide a legit answer).

Have no idea why this person would even buy a PM, again it's obvious he should have a P4 and let the wattage flow (and the HEAT).

But hey, every man/woman to his/her own taste... takes all kinds... am curious bout this kind though lol!!!

btw, LOVED the red light analogy

What's weird with me wanting my processor to run @ full speed when it's plugged in? Do I really need to provide a legit answer? Would it help you sleep at night? Here's a legit answer, because I don't like the slowness that I experience when I'm doing simple things like websurfing or simply opening up documents. It doesn't clock up since there is not very much CPU load to perform those operations. I am now using Speedswitch and it stays at the full speed when plugged in, yet it turns back to max battery when it's running on battery life. You have no idea why I would even buy a Pentium M? Why is it your business? Since you are so nosy, I bought a pentium M because it's relatively powerful, and it has long battery life when I want to take it around with me and I don't have a place to plug it in. Man, some ignorant people just try to find any reason to bash someone. If you're going to bash me, do it right. Don't do it like a little 12 year old boy who is happy that he got to insult someone who asked for help...

aahhh sorry but your paranoia’s showing… or is it just insecurity…

YOU’RE THE ONE WHO WAS ASKING FOR HELP ON A PUBLIC FORUM. NOBODY WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT YOU IF YOU HADN’T CRAWLED OUT, AH, ER, POSTED... I, just as several others, was curious why anyone would want to do this. A simple answer would have satisfied our curiosity. (and probably saved you from further ridicule) But instead of that, you responded with your knee jerk defensiveness/insecurity.

sooooooo defensive… could be male penis envy – also known as ‘itty bitty teeny weenie compensation’…

But you are quite right about my ignorance. All people are ignorant of most things. However, over the last 20 years, I have been fortunate enough to build a successful IT consulting business. Some of my clients include IBM (Atlanta), Vistakon, a Johnson & Johnson Company (Jax, FL), Microsoft (Charlotte), Robert Bosch (Charleston, SC)…

I offer you this poem I learned in law school. It can be used as an affirmative defense. (just in case you ever need it)

There once was a young man named Rex,
Who had a small emblem of sex,
When charged with exposure,
He replied with composure,
De minimis non curat lex

Latin: the law does not deal with small things, trifles.

This is a terrific site. I’ve learned many things from the input of others. Some very knowledgeable people are generous enough to contribute. Ethan2099 is a great example. He’s a Dell Canada tech and has provided many answers. If you take the time to read some of the threads, you’ll see that there are posters here that run the full gamut of computer knowledge. You’ll also see that most people here are good natured and friendly.

I hope you stick around and share your knowledge with others.

It’s also good to remember that when you stick your hand under a rock, a Gila monster might be there.

Whoa there buddy... male penis envy? Where does me getting angry about people bashing me for a simple request relate to itty bitty weenie compensation? Saved me from further ridicule? Wow buddy, but just came out and bashed me some more, and this time, none of it was even relevant to my initial question. You decided to strike me below the belt and just talk crap, that was really unnecessary. I understand that there's a risk when asking for help on a forum, but generally from what I've seen, this is one of the friendlier places to ask. I know this is a terrific site. If it weren't for these forums, I would not have the i9300 right now. I've become so much more knowledgable about notebooks because of this site. I just wanted to further add to my knowledge by trying to fix a problem that I have seen in several Dell notebooks(including my own). Well it's not really a problem, but it was something that bothered me nonetheless.
