The real question ...

Lol, it seems obvious to me that the real question is :

Is the modem on the sager a Win Modem ? IF not Has anybody ever made it work under linux ?

Icefluxx, i am still waiting for your lspci and i will look, but take that it is not because kppp sees it, that it will work. If this is a genuine win modem, and one of the not supported under linux, darn, well, it will not work under linux. Lets hope not. lspci please.

The 5670 is in fact a win modem. AMR if I recall. I'm winblows now at work so I can't check till I get some free time. By looking at the drivers posted for the 5660 it is the same modem as in mine. Oh yeah It works fine for me under Gentoo.

Thread Starter

... my net was down yesterday, whew...

and I sure missed out on alot, or did I?

My .02 for my thread: I started 4 days ago with mandrake and just finished compiling my first vanilla 2.4.22 for gentoo this morning, so I think that shows just how helpful you guys all are. Also, not an excuse by any means, but I can not walk to the store where I am and buy more books, or I probably would do that too.

ON topic, I have my network card in the module autoloader, and I am about to try and put the rest of my devices in there too. Any suggestions for specific modules to include or not include (5680, 2.4.22, pretty much everything is a module).

Thanks for everything, everyone.

Winmodem

Icefluxx: check the install guide, i reveal that a fair bit ago. I would say that 99 % of modems found integrated to laptops are indeed Winmodems.Bad !!!
