How to change under clocking and over clocking

Hey, I hear all of this talk about under clocking and over clocking. What does this mean and how do I change it on my Acer Aspire 1691? Thanks.

There hasn't been too much success with overclocking a Pentium M in a notebook, it's fairly easy to do when it's on a desktop platform, but not in a lappy...

Typically a notebook will come with software that will automatically underclock the CPU based on what performance you need (i.e. power4gear or some other such program).

Another way to get increased battery life is undervolting, which you can find more info about here: http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=70943

overclocking is basically making the cpu in your computer run faster. that means better performance but its usually more difficult to do in a laptop.
the reason underclocking is sometimes mentioned is as plage said to increase your battery life. if you're on the go and doing less cpu intensive tasks like word processing then underclocking will help you extend your battery life because you're not using as much power.
