Screen Issues! :S

I was playing World Of Warcraft for about an hour or so, and i began to notice that my screen was sort of flickering. It goes from bright to sorta dark, then bright again. I never noticed this before because I usually use a external monitor so i dont use the lappie's screen. It's not a HUGE problem, but it's still rather annoying Expecially since i will be using this screen a lot more now that its the summer.
Anyways, any ideas on how to fix this?
Oh and i have the Alienware 8.3 video drivers right now.

It happens even when im not playing a game, but i just noticed it for the first time when i was playing World Of Warcraft this morning. I restarted after i saw the flickering, but its still doing it. Actually its doing it as i type right now. It will flicker for a while, then stop for a few minutes, then start flickering again. I guess ill go ahead and try the 8.5 drivers and see if that fixes it. Are those any good?

I'm not running the 8.5 yet on mine and I never have this issue. This almost sounds like some sort of power condition, or some type of backlight problem.

This randomnly happened to me one day after a lot of gaming on my laptop. All I did was use the Fn button and the F-keys to increase/decrease the brightness level; for some reason, when I changed the brightness level, it stopped... must be something to do with the LCD backlight controller or something.

Hope this helps.

I've gotten this a lot with my 5500. The screen will build to bright then instantly go to the brightness level you get when on battery and constantly back and forth. Sometimes restarting will fix the issue but the only thing I've found that works is reinstalling the video drivers. And while you're at it, use the Omegas, they are much more stable, or have been for me. I'm sure if you do some SEARCHING in this section of the forums you will find more posts on this subject and links to the omega drivers.
