have been using my compaq laptop for 6+ hours, on top of the cooler, picked up the laptop and use the un-scientific hand temperature test
Test to use the program I linked to in an earlier post, this reads the real deal, the internal temp sensor inside the pentium4 chip.

don't have my sager yet, this compaq doesn't have a p4.

Mine might be here today. I'll let you guys know if there is a big difference as i usually play halo till my fingers cramp into a claw.

can anyone come up with the decision please? so does it work? or are fan coolers(can you suggest any) still better?
i personally don;t no whats better but i just went and bought this fanless one at compusa, and all i have to say is amazing.... works great . fans haven't been anywhere near full blast today since i got it... deffinitly worth the price.

I'm going to have a plastic shop make me a lapdesk cut to the size of my 8890 with 4 'posts' on the corners for the laptop feet to sit on. The added clearance under the laptop and fans will improve cooling. Very simple.

As for the heatpipes, the airflow under the Sagers from the underside fans will keep the underside of the laptop much cooler than on other laptops, thereby significantly reducing the heatpipes cooling abilities. Normally they transfer heat from the very hot underside of a laptop away to the edge of the cooler - but if the underside is cool...

I just got my Nexus cooler in the mail today, and after playing Halo till my fingers cramped I did notice that the fans went on less often and when they did the air comming out was noticably cooler than without it. And yes, I did have the books underneath before so it must be more than just air flow.

Well, this thing does sound nice, but I have a question about the bottom surface of it. Is it something that could sit on the bed and still be effective, or will the fabric of the sheet constrict the airflow around the heatpipes? Right now my 5680 is sitting on an atlas that is nice and flat and just the right size. I'd hate to spend $30 to get another flat surface that doesn't offer any advantages to my book o' maps.

I dont think if it sat on the bed it would be as effective. It has space on the sides for air to flow in to the heat pipes which would more than likely get blocked off on the bed. Although if it fit on the book it is rather thin. Its angled slightly maybe 1/2" in front and 1" in back.I will take some pics if someone can host them.

Here are some pics of the side view of the Nexus. If you want to see something specific let me know.

Thanks!

btw can you take picture from the from and back it that won't be hard, and also something from the top right or left angle

and another thing if it won't be too hard and i'm sure it won't be hard for you could send me your laptop? i really like it! i can pay for the delivary and np btw!

Tried as best I could, The back has all my external drives hooked in so I couldnt really pull it out, and the side viw was all I got before the battery died on my camera. I can send you my sager, but it will be a 10% increase over pctorque prices as it is fully tested and broken in

I've been looking for a laptop cooler as well, and would like to see some internal temperatures before I purchase one. Could anyone do a comparison between say, a stack of books, the nexus or other heatpipe, and the antec fan based cooler?
I dont think there are any temp monitors in the sagers. If there is I would gladly do it.
I'm not sure, but is this something that could be monitored with CPU-Z or SiSoft Sandra?
Nope, as far as i know there are no programs that work as far as tempeture. I have searched the forum and there was one guy who wrote his own that was not even sure it worked.
