sweet news! new lappies this fall - Page 2

Note on that

As far as new notebooks coming out...nothing new will be out in the next month for sure Now for desktops, there will be 2 systems coming out the 5100C and 9100. Well the 9100 is out now but the 5100C will be replacing the 4700C. I don't know if you all care about the desktops but it will be the next Dell system out on the product line. I would definitely think the 600m will be replaced. I mean look now, the old d600s are being shipped out as them now. Having said that, they must have had an excess of latitudes and were using those to fill the rest of the demand for the 600m. I may be wrong but that is just my thought on that. And yours???

Yea about the service and support. All the warranties for desktops and notebooks are going to a standard of 90 day support. There are tons of warranties and solutions you can purchase from Dell. Did you know you can purchase Premier Warranty support which will get you to a technician in Montreal and the wait is only 2 minutes (also they are highly certified in all areas). So the more you spend on the warranties, the better off, only if you need it though.

About how much avg warning have we gotten with Dell's recent laptop releases? Usually rumors start surfacing a month before a new model is released? 2 months?
Does that mean these new laptops won't have any light leakage or sparkles? If they come out with a nice dual core turion + G70 sysem I will put this XPS 2 system on sale and grab one.

I wish someone could tell us when the next 14' lappy from dell will be coming out. I can't decide wether to get a new 600m in two months and have it be discontinued a month later or jsut get the 600m soon. Will the 600ms still have these coupons that make them awesome in 2 months, and will they really be using the Latitude 600s' casings then? (that's awesome ,extra durability)
You never know what coupons will be available. The Latitude D610 and I600m are exactly the same except that the D610 uses the X300 card.

There's something to be said for "mature technology". The 700m started shipping last August, less than a year ago and seems to have gotten it together as far as the BIOS, construction, graphics, drivers etc.

It's on it's fourth BIOS revision and third graphics driver and has settled down to what seems to be a very reliable platform...having said that, if a new one comes out, I'll sell one of mine so fast and get one it'll make your socks roll down.

Assuming any new model is indeed better than the "old". Moving forward isn't always moving upward. I'll enjoy my 700m for a long time.
