Where are all the AMD 64 Notebooks with high end video cards?

Hey everyone,

I'm a new member, so hello, hello, and to you over there, hello as well

I've been searching for an AMD 64 notebook with a video card better than an ATI 9700 for a while now. I personally don't much care for ATI as I've had problems with them in the past and I was hoping to find an AMD book with a Nvidia 6800 or maybe, MAYBE, even an ATI x800 if that was all there is.

All I seem to find are books with the 9700. What's the deal?

The newer AMD Turion64 notebooks will have PCI-express graphics, but right now the best we've seen is an x700 (Ferrari 4000, plus a few others). At the moment, it would appear that AMD is focusing more on the ultraportable and thin and light notebook market, rather than the desktop replacements, so that is why there is a lack of graphics power (but really, only a select few notebooks have anything more powerful than an x700 or 6600).

At the computex show this week they show a clevo 900 (AKA Sager 9880) AMD X2 laptop. It is for the serious gamer. Hopefully they will release it on pctorque.com later this month.
