Help with Importing Video

Thread Starter
I'm a newbie at this and frankly I don't have a clue what I'm doing.....

I have a Compaq Presario X6000 and am thinking I can copy video from my video camera to the notebook (or right to a DVD).

The problem is: I can't figure out what the heck I'm doing....I can't figure out how to get the video off my video camera and onto the notebook. The notebook has an S-Video out on the back....I don't think that's where I hook the video camera up to the notebook since that's an "out" not an "in". But I don't know where else I would hook it up.

Any advice on where I can go to read up on this or any specific input would be great!

You will use the firewire port (1394 port) for capturing video from your video camera. You can check the video editing forum here or there are lots others for much more information.

Watch out. Once you import video, you'll want to edit it. Then you'll want to add music to the video. Then you'll..... (it's a slippery slope)

I recommend reading the manual to your camera, they explain how to do this & set it up... They also sometimes come with software...

Yes, I agree with Tecking778, the camera manufacturer will generally explain the process in the manual. You might also want to take a look at the camera manufacturers website, they might post such information there.
