Asus z70a v z63a

Far as I can see, the advantage to the z63a is that it's lighter; disadvantages are no Audio DJ, one fewer USB port, and 2 fewer speakers. But as I will be using the lappy overseas for a year in place of a desktop and probably will not carry it around on a daily basis, is there a reason to prefer the z63a?

(For one thing, what's the trade-off watching dvds between 1280x800 on a 15.4" vs at 1280x768 on a 14"?)

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you sure you don't want something with a dedicated graphics card?

but in either case.. based on your description.. then I'd take the Z70A.. it's not that much heavier than the Z63 and has more speakers.. although If I were you..it shouldn't be too much of a problem as I'd use an external speaker anyways.

Another to consider is the other Asus, the A6u, that one is a turion. Loooks like the W1N and pretty sleek too!.

No Audio DJ? I’m almost positive there is Audio DJ on the Z63A. It is listed as having it on ProPortables site, the W3V has it, and the W3A has it (which the Z63A is the barebones of). They would have to go through a lot of work to make it not have Audio DJ.

Anyway, that is probably minor. The Z70A is a sweet looking machine. The only drawbacks I see (for me) is the open height of the unit (built for a 15” regular screen). The Z63A is short, similar to a 12” (since it is a 14” wide screen).

Performance-wise they shouldn’t be much different. So, if size is not an issue, go with the screen size you would prefer, or just the pure look of the thing. They are both sexy.

Ahhh, yes, I see that Proportable does list the Audio DJ. (Another site, which shall remain nameless did not.) It'd be nice if I could use each for a while, or maybe I should go to the Dell Store and pretend I'm buying But I suspect I'm leaning toward the extra real estate, given my vision (which is why I don't want a WSXGA+ screen!).

Thanks.

In my home in Utah in the US, my town’s drinking water runs down from mountains that belong to a company called Kennecot. Kennecot is a mining company and purchased those mountains because they are rich in minerals, the most prominent one being copper. They have an open pit copper mine there, the largest on the planet. It’s so big you can see it from the space shuttle.

In any case, the water is infamous, known to everyone in Salt Lake as the Magna Water. Very rich in minerals, and most people that aren’t on that water grid can’t stand drinking the stuff. All the minerals cause the water to taste completely different from other water on other grids.

Not that it’s bad, they’ve never said anything particular about any health risks involved in the water. In fact, most people that live on the Magna Water distribution grid are generally better off, because they get the minerals that sometimes they don’t otherwise get in their diets. But nevertheless, it’s still strong mineral water, something that some people don’t like.

You may be thinking, "WTF? What does have to do with anything?"
