Clevo Dual-Core AMD Athlon 64 X2 notebook pictures & info - Page 4

First of all this is not the first amd notebook to have socket 939. I have a R4000 with athlon 4000. It also has upgradeable GPU(ATI has it on its website).

But I believe such power is not useful in a notebook. I may instead like to have 15.4 wsxga+ , mobile athlon 3700 cpu with nvidia 6800 ddr3(not ultra) and single100gb 7200 hdd and a 9cell battery at 7.5-8lbs.

WHy spend so many dollars on a notebook which cannot beat a desktop and still be expensive?

For those of us who make a living thru our computers and travel a whole lot. I need the ability to do 3d modelling and renderings while away from the office and in the field.

This equates to getting a laptop as powerful as I can find. Unfortunately, there are prices we must pay in weight, low battery life and $$$.

Should I not consider spending $7,000 on a laptop which allows me to create a rendering for a client in his office in order to get a contract which may yield a $500,000+ profit.

NO BRAINER, MY FRIEND!

PS: I'm waiting for the first Clevo D900K with AMD dual core, dual 7200 RPM 100GB hard drives and Nvidia Quadro 1400. EUROCOM is advertising shipment of these by 01 August, 2005.

Luke, If eurocom is telling the truth (and they very well might not be) and this thing is coming out Aug 1st, is there really still no word yet from Sager about this new notebook?
Specs, pricing, benchmarks?

This notebook still hasn't past R&D from Clevo(at least not that I have been informed) so that date is a little early. The month of August some time is what I am anticipating.

"Truth" and "Eurocom" do not often collide in the same sentence - only slightly more often than "truth" and "Go-L".

My friend, I agree with you that you should buy a powerful notebook. But if you get a

centrino2.0,turion2.0 or mobile athlon 3700+
1gig Ram
100gb 7200 HDD
256mb nvidia 6800 DDR3
ALl this in a 15.4 inch notebook
with 9 cell battery
weighing around 7-8lbs

which would you buy? BUt unfortunately there are none out there. That's why you will have to spend so much.I hope you got my point. For the gamers it is a no brainer to spend so much on a powerful notebook as it can never beat a desktop built at almost half the price.

I hope Sager is listening and gives us a no bullshit 15.4 notebook( my specs would be

Amd Turion MT-34 (lowest power consumption and 64-bit)
1 gig ram and not more( enough for some years to come)
60 gb 7200 with 100gb7200 option
double layer dvd riter
256mb Nvidia ddr3(no ultras or gt's needed)
14.1 inch wsxga+
6cell battery with 9cell option (no need for more or less)
wireless b/g and bluetooth

I will buy it too soon.

How would it be a 15.4" notebook if you want a 14.1" screen with it?

My mistake

I meant to say it should be 14.1 inch or a max of 15.4,

I hope LUke us listening.

So now the question for me is, do I just go ahead and get the 9880 I ordered with then 670 and 6800 Ultra, or hold off and get the AMD/ATI. The biggest thing is if I don't get the one ordered, the AMD will have to get shipped to me (from my girlfriend) all the way over to Iraq . . . That is a long unsafe travel . . . and I so much want the AMD/ATI over the Intel/Nvidia . . . decisions decisions. What would you all do?

But of course .

I wouldn't be looking for a 15.4 in with specs like that quite yet, normally it is Sager/Clevo's will to release a 17" Flag ship to proceed all their 15" or 15.4" "mobile" solutions.

So, will this machine be able to handle more than the 2.8gigs of RAM that the 9880 is restricted to? Also does anybody know if there are any laptops that can utilize up to 4 gb? Some help would be greatly appreciated.

It should, I don't know of any AMD chipsets that are limiting like the 98x0.

And Luke makes the decision harder haha
my deciding factor: price. i jumped on the rebate bandwagon.

As soon as they get mass produced enough to distribute, no firm date as of yet.

Very OT, but you have PM to explain.

9880 Discontinued?

When the new AMD notebook is released will the 9880 be discontinued? Or will Sager / Clevo offer both models?
