Speedstep causes stuttering

When watching DVDs the picture stutters every time the voltage goes up or down. Setting the powersaving at minimal in rmclock also causes the voltage to peak, and stutter. The only solution I've found is to set the throttling to max, but then the fan goes on from time to time, annoying.

Is there a way to "lock" the voltage or eliminate this problem?

It's a Dothan 1,5GHz...

you can undervolt your max voltage but your fan will still go on but less frequently

i know cause i was in your situation and did the undervolting

see the topic related to undervolting if you haven't checked yet.
my 1.5 dothan's max voltage was 1.3 now its .988, a big difference.

My min is 0,7 and max is 1,004. The thing is that it stutters everytime the cpu throttles and changes voltage. Is this normal?

I don't know about the Pentium-M Speedstep, but the Athlon 64 that I have uses a similar voltage/frequency scaling method to save power, and it never causes stuttering.

Can anyone confirm the stuttering when the cpu is throttling? Or is it just bad drivers?

Check to see if you have anything running in the background. Turn them off and see if you still get stuttering.

Try using another DVD player. I use PowerDVD, and see if you still get stuttering.

Get back to us with the results.

I have formatted the disk several times so I don't think I have any trojans running in the background.
I have tried vlc, powerdvd 4-6 and windvd, same thing no matter what program I use.
I am running rmclock for undervolting and my power scheme is set to laptop.
It doesn't stutter when i set powerdvd to real time process priority, but I shouldn't have to do that?
