The mission: a compact dvd player, external tv tuner (for use with monitor) and speakers to make the long boring midnight shifts go a little quicker.

Does anyone have experience with any of these tv tuners? I want one that will accept input from antenna or dvd player, has an output to a CRT, and will function WITHOUT the use of the computer. Here are a couple I have found, I cannot see the big differences in them from my novice standpoint:

They have audio out (3.5mm), so could I just plug in some fairly cheap powered Altec Lansings or the like?
