Did you decide against the MX1000 because the huge receiver...your gonna love this!!! - Page 2

I couldn't get it to work either. I returned the Mediaplay mouse. Clearly not all Logitech receivers are the same.

One of the posters down in Dell forums mentioned this a few months ago, when I got my 9300 and was looking for a portable mouse. Went out and tried it the night I read the post and been using it since.

The reciever costs about $18 (with shipping) from Logitech. If you have a MediaPlay mouse and call Logitech customer support you can ask them for a replacement reciever (just tell that the connector is coming loose or something). They'll ask for the s/n from your MediaPlay mouse and will usually send out a new reciever with no problems. If you ask for the reciever and Logitech what you're planning on using it for, they'll give you some hassle. Also, if you ask if any of the mini-reciever dongles work with the MX1000, they'll tell you that the MX1000 works on entirely different technology

You also don't need to use the SetPoint software, unless you need to use something in the software specifically. I've never used Logitech's drivers until recently with my MX518. For the MX1000 / mini-reciever to work all you need do is plug in the reciever, press the little connect button on it, press the connect on the MX1000 and you should be good to go.

Considering the price for the MediaPlay mouse, it is worth just buying the mouse instead of the seperate reciever from Logitech. I haven't tested it with some of the newer, smaller recievers yet.

I bought the Mediaplay mouse, and the receiver didn't work with the MX1000. Also, the receiver didn't have ANY connect button on it. So what are you talking about there?

It's NOT the same. I have the Optical mouse for notebooks, and it has a "Connect" button on it. The Mediaplay mouse DOES NOT have this button on it. It did not work with my MX1000 mouse, but the Optical Notebook receiver DID work. I just can't customize the buttons on the MX1000 as the software doesn't recognize the mouse.

Mine has a connect button right on top of the receiver. It's a pin hole size button, you need a paper clip to push it. You'll only have to do it once...mine connects automatically every time.

I'm using SetPoint 2.31.546 drivers.

I have the MX1000 for my lappy now and I love it. I guess if you are trying to use it in a class its a problem. I just take mine back and forth from work. No problems really to speak of.

Making sure we're all looking at the same thing. Like slcya said, it's a small button, not labeled, that you have to press with a paperclip, ballpoint pen, or something else small.

M/N of this reciever is C-BS35. Located on the back, top of the label.

G7? No thank you. It uses nasty sweat-inducing plastic, and only features 2 batteries because the battery life is AWFUL with one.

From Logitech's website:

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...ONTENTID=10716

Two fast-swap ultra-light Li-ion packs
Recharging doesn´t have to mean pausing the action. . In the default gaming power mode, the battery life will last up to two and a half days for average game play.***

*** Based on an average of 4 hours of game play a day

--------

Haha. Total joke. 10 hours of battery? That's it? I'm getting 40-50 on the MX1000 without recharging. NOT impressed. And, considering you can get an MX1000 from Amazon for $40 after rebate (often $35), free shipping, no tax - what's the point in spending 3 times that for the G7?

I just did as the first post suggested, and it worked perfectly....I was one who loved the mx1000 but it had more wires than any "wireless" mouse I've seen....Thank you to the poster who figured this out, and let us all know!!!!

Your welcome! Glad it worked without a hitch!

I have the logitech cordless optical mouse, the usb "dongle" has the same serial number which is presented in this thread, however, it has no reset button. I see in the picture that the reset button version is a matte black, whereas mine is a smoked transparent. Is there any way to get mine to work, or do I need to call logitech?
