You guys are so lucky... jealous...

more proof that toshiba loves canada.....
FYI, each country (US, Austrilia, Canada, etc....) has near complete control of what chasis are brought to its customers and with what specs and price points.

So... Toshiba of Canada loves Canada

i was wrong before... toshiba really did slim down the f25 a lot.. a bit too much in my opinion

besides the screen (17 to 15.4), price(3000 to 2000), and harddrives (120gb sata to 100gb ata)

the graphics chip was slimmed from 128mb to 64mb
the processor was slimmed from 2ghz to a 1.86ghz

well if anyone spots any other differences post

i am kind of upset with the decision to make all of these cuts.. especially like with the graphics card where the f15 had a 128mb graphics chip

i would say that the move is a function of trying to hit a certain price point.

You basically have all the differences...although in Canada the vid memory will stay at 128mb.

Two (2) SATA --> One (1) PATA
Different Black Finish
Different style buttons (play, stop, etc)
Different Blue LED usage
Slot Load --> Traditional Tray

You confirmed this with your buddy at Toshiba Canada? I saw the specs for the US version of the F20 and was disappointed to see their version listed with only 64 MB of video RAM. Glad to see we'll be getting ours with 128 MB. Looks like I'll be picking up the F20 if you're right.

If only Toshiba Canada would get off their hands and update their website. Seems Canadian webmasters are always behind for some reason. Don't know why? Heh...

Got an ETA for the F20?

The product is not yet available in Canada....look for info on the toshiba.ca site ...first week in July.

A few people that have them are saying that they are faster than the XPS2.

I fricken love my F10.. UHHHHHHHHHHh :P

how/where would one from the u.s. pick up the 128mb f25? is there some duty that would have to be paid aswell?
you would have to come to canada, and there would probably be some taxes when you got back to the states, plus our federal sale taxe and dependin on the province you visited provincial taxes as well... basically it is either here in canada or europe. also wherever you get it from you will likely have to pay some taxes when you import it into the states because of its value.

I picked up a F25 the other day because I was able to get it for $200 bucks less than what Toshiba sells it for. (I was going to get a 17 inch HP Pavillion, but found out the HP couldn't read DVD-Ram discs.) So far, I've been casually tinkering with everything on the Toshiba and am surprised it does so much. The video card seems fine so far. I'm just wondering if Toshiba USA will change its mind within the next six months and decide to change the USA configuration to include the 128 video card that the rest of the world is getting. If that's the case, I wouldn't be adverse to returning the machine and waiting a little bit more.

who knows what toshiba USA is planning, i personally bet against them doing ti really soon, it would kill the sales of the current F25. as well they have to be concious of the price, they cannot make the price too high and including that card has that possibility.

it happened here when we took a look at the actual selling price of the canadian G20 compared to the british units. the british offered more hdd space and higher processors but the cost between the models worked out to $2000 canadian difference. the dif in the UK did not seem to bad and for there is not too bad but in canada after the conversions are done it makes a huge difference. if toshiba brought in the smae model as the high end british one we would be paying over $5000 canadian for it, so price really does matter.

Toshiba Qosimo G25 (just came out) is the BEST

I bought it. It holds centrino processor 2.0. Raid 0 and Raid 1. Incredible display does NOT get hot at all. Battery life is about 90 minutes, but you get a super duper desktop replacement. The screen is the best in the world. The laptop is gorgeous, slick and about 9.5 lbs. I have checked out Sager/hypersonic/alienware and Dell, IBM and absolutely nothing matches (clevo models are fast but get hot) (ibm still building 15 inch screens,) Dell looks great but is very hot underneath !!. I have used it for about a week and there is very little heat. In fact the the hand rest is sometimes cool even after the laptop is on for hours. Laptop cost about $3600 from Best buy including tax and warranty. You can play movies with its surround sound (harmon kardon) at cinematic levels. It is a pleasure to watch a DVD or to play music on. 128 MG of Nvidia Video Ram. 1 Gig or ram is standard. It comes with a TV tuner and DVD recorder. It also comes with 2 60 gig 5400 rpm hard-drives with raid 0 and raid 1 software. !!

I have checkout many laptops. The laptop is gorgeous and fast. Checkout the reviews by typing reviews qosimo G25 on google. All the best.

since you are one of the first with a g25, i think we would all like a good review with a load of pictures, and some benchmarks....

The G25 will be my fist Laptop. I was wondering if any one could answer a couple of questions. Will the 6600 graphics card support a 1600 X 1200 Monitor when I dock the laptop. I will mainly use it for Photoshop. I would like to upgrade the RAM to 2 Gigs. Do I have to buy two 1024MB sticks and replace the 512's or can I order it with 2048MB of RAM?
Yes it will support 1600 x 1200.

you will need to install Two (2) 1024MB sticks.
i dont believe you can order it with that much ram, i think you will have to get them seperate.

Wow this is awesome

Just got my new Qosmio on 7/3.I just could not deal with the XPS display any longer.Had the G15 before that.So far after 11 days I am loving the G25.Sony makes an excellent screen but the Qosmio screen blows it away.
