T43 (UC374GE) vs. T42 (UC2M1GE)

Hallo,

I'm going to buy an IBM Thinkpad. My two candidates are
a) T42 (UC2M1GE)
b) T43 (UC374GE)

The main differences are (T43/T42):
o P-M 760, 2 GHz (533 FSB) / P-M 745, 1.8 GHz (400 FSB)
o PC-2 4200 DDR2 / DDR-SDRAM PC2700 333 MHz
o ATI Mobility X300 / ATI Mobility RADEON 9600

My most important requirement is the loudness of the notebook. With other words: it must be really really silent.

Because of the fact, that I haven't heard the T-43 and some people of a Thinkpad Center said, that the T-43-series has 'teething troubles', I don't know, which notebook I should buy.

Have you any experience with the named T-43?

Kind regards
Stephan

T43 sound

I have a recently purchased T43 266871u. It is very quite..much more quiet than the two Sagernotebooks I have. I love it.

I just got a T43 2668 46G, and the fan is on (it's lowest speed) constantly, even though i've set up a special "Quiet Fan" profile with the performance sliders to the lowest I can get them. Room temp is about 25 C today.

The fan is louder than the hard disk in this machine.
