Wanting to play games on new i9300, where's all the non-violent games?

Hey folks, my title pretty much sums it up. I just recently got a kick ass i9300 laptop and I am looking to play some games on it only I'm sick and tired of playing those violent games like Doom 3... Don't get me wrong these games are definitely paving the way for state of the art graphics but the content is just to gorey for my blood. I want a game that I can enjoy without having to whip out a gun or any weapon for that matter... Something with nice visual effects and stimulating enough to keep my attention. Any recommendations?

Thanks for any replies...

umm, sim city 4 is cool i guess, but that wont fully take advantage of the graphics card cuz the game is a bit old, you can get those need for speed games. NFS Underground 2 just came out, and by the end of the yeear, the NFS Most wanted is comming out as well.

Enjoy your new lappy!

I've been playing Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and I only knock the bad guys unconscious... I don't kill them. Nonviolent enough? :-)

Thanks for the recommendations fellas. I'm downloading the "Flat Out" demo as I'm typing... I'll have to play it on my i9300 when I get it back tomorrow from repair. In the meantime I'll check it out on my i8200. As for Sim City 4, yea that's a little old school for me, not a bad game but I'm looking for something with a little more visuals as I have a Nvidia 6800 Go graphics card.

How about Microsoft Flight Sim, is that any good?

Beyond Good and Evil The best sleeper hit ever. http://www.gamershell.com/download_3584.shtml get a demo here. Great game just it is really sad it didnt get the popularity it deserves. Has good reviews everywhere also.

also another great game Psyconaughts. it is a pretty new game but really fun also.

One more game is Monkey Island 4 (I think it was called return to monkey island) Anyway it is a bit old but fun as crap. and belive it or not it actually looks fine as long as you set the AA and af on highest.

There are more but those are fist that come to my mind. But you really have to play beyond good and evil.

Also about Beyond Good and Evil it is made in widescreen mode only. Great for widescreens. if you played on a normal 4:3 screen it would have black bars. Really nice graphics also.

Railroad tycoon 3 is a fun game, and it runs in widescreen. Its a little bit of a hassle to play with the touch pad though.

I also play civ 3 on my laptop, although that has extremely low key "unit takes unit" violence. It supports widescreen if you add "keepres = 1" into the ini file.

The other relatively non-violent game I play on mine is bookworm. An addicting word game.

Other then those, I just play World of Warcraft on my laptop. I will be installing sim city and pharoh soon, both should be good lappie games.

Artuk

Thanks for the responses... I've taken a look at some of the games that you recommended and I decided to buy this game:

Myst® Uru™: Complete Chronicles

$12.99 used from Amazon

It has nice 3d graphics and sound plus it challenges you mentally without any blood and guts... BTW, Artuk, I also play WoW which has violence but it has enough moments of non-violence such that I can handle it.

What's the point if you can't kill anything. Just kidding

What about sports games? My son loves them.

Are any of you playing the two "Myst IV Revelation" DVD's on these lappies? Any problems (other than those in the game)?

There are a lot of really good games out there, you just have to keep on the lookout for them as they don't get the publicity of the FPS and related games.

Myst Revelation and Uru are very playable and will work perfectly on either the XPS2 or 9300 in answer to the above question. Keep on the lookout for the last installment Myst: End of Ages in the Fall. MystObsession.com

I am personally looking forward to the semi-violent strategy game Age of Empires III. It's supposed to have amazing graphics.

The Thief (http://www.thief3.com) series is also fairly non-violent.. think of it as a fantasy based Splinter Cell

I also enjoy space games like Freelancer (though -my God- it gets repetetive) and the excellent Conflict: Freespace 1 & 2. Sure you blow stuff up but in that nice American if-you-can't-see-them-die-face-to-face-are-they-really-dead? kind of way..

/me slaps fingers! (sorry, can't help it sometimes )

I play WoW way too much. I wouldn't really call it a violent game by any means. Very addicted. Can be very time consuming if you don't limit yourself. Though at the same time you can easily sit down for 30 min and get something accomplished. No need to play for 5 hours to get anything done like in EQ.

Thanks again for the suggestions... I just played Uru Ages Demo and I like it alot! It's very much what I was looking for. How about Myst: End of Ages in the Fall, what's the release date on this game? and are the graphics supposed to be improved over the last installments? I've tried doing a google search for "non-violent games" but I mostly get childrens games and not games for mature players. Although I came across this one interesting thing called Dreamscaping: http://www.dreamscaping.com/
I don't think it's a game though.

Anyways... Keep the suggestions coming please

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3? Its supposed to be quite good fun, if a little buggy.
Flight Sim can be a lot of fun if it's good visuals and open-ended entertainment you're looking for. There are also a lot of good add-ons (both commercial and freebies) that keep it interesting.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, just came out. I played part 2 and it is so cool.

RCT3 plays great on my 9300. Plays smooth w/ display settings maxed out.

I tried playing the demo of RCT3 with the settings maxxed out and it's smooth as a babies butt! I didn't play with it much but it was pretty cool, I really like the realistic physics model they use. I'm considering buying it but I'll have to look at other games b4 I make my decision...
